The words ‘Create two, three, many Columbias’ only meant to expand the strike so that the U.S must either change or send its troops to occupy American campuses. The university administration had a realistic goal that an explosive mix should be present on dozens of campuses where students' demand for attention views was being disregarded. During the semi-peace of the early 60s and Vietnam, the American student’s movement had continued to swell. In addition, during the token liberalism of John Kennedy and the bankrupt racism of Lyndon Johnson, the Campus crisis was only to increase if the racism crisis was raised (Bloom, Alexander, and Wini 273).
The counterculture of the 1960s started in the U.S and spread to countries such as France and U.K. the students in public universities were protesting against the U.S government's involvement in the Vietnam War. Similarly, during the same time, there was increased participation in African American civil rights activism that sought to end racism. As the years passed, the baby boomers or generational gap concerning the Vietnam War, rights of women, and traditional modes of power, human sexuality, and race relations took center stage. Students developed new cultural forms such as hip-hop to fight government injustices and introduce equality in society
