The reading deals with the faith of the Americans on the perception of the evolving energy crisis. The article of Fei was particularly interesting because it combined the faith of the American people and that of the former president of the United States and his thought.
Based on Fei’s America’s crisis of faith of article that we read, showed that American’s problem was not with the crisis of energy but it was due to lack of faith in the existing government system and the leaders within it. President Carter in his speech believed that lack of faith in the present social system on the part of the broad masses of American people did not begin with the energy crisis. In the article Fei states that ruling class had the power to find ways of dealing with crisis, but the masses have come increasingly to feel that they have fallen unwittingly into a situation of believe that their faith are controlled by the others. When we lose faith our strength and hopes are lost and the power to fight is lost too. Fei contradicts the former Presidents speech in that even those who could earn their own living still relied on the welfare to support themselves without dignity. The state of believe should suppress lack of faith within individual for a positive response to be expected from us. Perhaps we can say the feeling of believe can suppress all the negative thoughts including lack of faith in the existing government in solving crisis.
Growing rates of dependence of individuals on others grows heavier and heavier such that many of us feel in their hearts that this society cannot be relied upon for solving crisis. Carter believed that such feeling was natural in the society and he was right to call this feeling of helplessness as the ``crisis of faith’’ since it is a doubting of the present cultural. It is upon us to realize that the present crisis has lasted for long and it has gone deep. I don’t come to agree with the Carter’s speech in that the strength of faith can also cloud our judgement that the end with the crisis of faith does violence to our original intention. Having great faith in the American people cannot solve a situation but it only give the courage to face the problem.

...turn of events, defying reason it had to happen through positive belief in the divine power and through infinite passion. . (Sands 25) What objections might be made to Kierkegaard’s account(s) of faith, and how might he answer them? The objection that can be made to Kierkegaard’s account of faith is that by writing from the view-point of an unbeliever, Kierkegaard hoped to ‘beguile’ readers into recognising their own necessity to convert into Christianity. . (Sands 17) Another objection raised against Kierkegaard’s account of faith is “Kierkegaard's treatment of religious belief is that it fails to distinguish between someone who has a justified belief and someone who is...
