Democracy in United s When politicians give out money in exchange for votes does not mean that democracy has violated. This is because people still has an opportunity to refrain from electing the person using bribes. When one arm of the government is bribed, this does not mean that the whole government is corrupt. Instead it is the responsibility of the person who has identified an occurrence of corruption to report to other authority. Government arms are widespread with some of them transparent.

These can be pillars of supporting democracy in the country. In addition, corruption involves few individuals while the rest of the people uphold the spirit of democracy. When you get to political position but get a strong constitution and a senate in place one might not be able to engage in corruption acts. It is true that some of the political leaders might be use their monetary power to force their family members to high positions but it is important to note there are credible leaders that have used the right channels to get to high political positions.

I believe that we are far from becoming a monarchical government (Tocqueville, 2007). Majority of government offices have upheld the spirit of democracy and it’s only few examples that can be cited to have such characteristics. Cases of children inheriting powers and names from their parents who hold high positions in political arena are considered unethical and are highly condemned in US.
