On the morning of September 11, 2001 four commercial planes were hijacked by terrorists affiliated with Al-Qaeda, an Islamic extremist group. The number of terrorists was expected to be around 19 that carried suicide attacks in three different places. The first two planes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York, the third destructed a part of the Pentagon while the fourth crashed in a field of Pennsylvania. This was a massive and atrocious attack on the land of America causing immense collateral damage.2
Who would have expected the day when America crippled into the depths of shock and horror with strong defensive shields mentioned above. A major chunk of the American economy flourishing in the WTC was deflated. The Pentagon that is the central decision making body of the country was so vulnerable and the trans-border security on the airports was so weak that no one could keep a check on any unusual activities. All of these loopholes resulted in the death of more than 3000 civilians3 on 9/11.
When the episode of 9/11 is dug deep, one comes across a lot of questions. For instance, why did a non-state actor attack America? How did it get the capability to penetrate inside the country? Was there an insider involved? Does it prove the failure of President George W. Bush’s administration or was it another excuse to wage war like the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941? All of these questions have affected the lives of Americans itself.
Right after the country was attacked, President George W. Bush declared war on terror and put forward a proposal of “either you are with us or them (terrorists)” before the world making states choose between the devil and the deep blue sea. President Bush invested heavily to wage the war against Osama Bin Laden, the culprit responsible for planning and executing the attacks. He started off with bombarding Afghanistan in 2001 which hasn’t stopped yet even after a decade.

This has angered many Islamic groups and nations but the strategic energy interests of the USA have led to it ignoring these sentiments. The attacks by the al Qaeda are believed to be hooked to the belief by the group that predominantly Christian countries like the USA deny them deserving power, prestige and leading role in world economy and politics.
511). For many of us, with the help of information technology, the events were witnessed in real time. With initial bewilderment we witnessed the first commercial airplane crash into the first tower of the World Trade Center. When the second commercial airplane crashed into the second tower of the World Trade Center, bewilderment turned to fear.
Everyone woke up on that day with great expectations, hoping that this would be just another day in their busy lives, probably better. Some citizens went to their offices as early as they could, some to their businesses, others to school while others drove to the airports to catch their flights without knowing that their fate and destiny had already been decided by a group of self-centered notorious criminals, that is the al-Qaeda terrorist network.
Why was America taken by surprise on September 11th, 2001? When the Soviet Union collapsed, the Cold War came to an end making America a super power. Since then, America has been known to exercise uni-polar world order playing monopoly in international politics, economics and security.
Hijackers took control of four U.S. domestic commercial airliners: two of which were crashed into the World Trade Center in Manhattan, New York City; one of which crashed into the U.S. Department of Defense headquarters, the Pentagon, in Arlington County, Virginia; and the fourth, which crashed into a rural field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
One, at around "8:46 hours Eastern Time", the suicide hijackers crashed the "American Airlines Flight 11" into the world Business Center's North Tower; the tower collapsed and crumbled into pieces (National Commission on Terrorist Attacks, chapter 5). Minutes later, a similar attack - involving the "United Airlines Flight 175" - occurred where the plane was crushed into the "Southern tower" of the centre; the tower also collapsed (National Commission on Terrorist Attacks, chapter 5).
Hundreds of people were killed in these attacks; however, the Global War on Terror, which was counter-response of 9/11 attacks, deteriorated lives of millions of people around the globe that associated al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussain behind the 9/11 attacks.
to the American government in terms of policies and social systems, the same allies became the enemies of America and thus the only target for our military. The theme of the writing is clear since it shows how the mistakes made by the government have cost the people dearly
rashed into a Pennsylvania field after the passengers on this plane heroically stood up to the terrorists and did not allow them to accomplish this particular mission. The attack was this generations Pearl Harbor, and caused ripple effects that included Americas involvement in
