Makeup that was formally only used by prostitutes were becoming a household item. The older generation did not understand the decay in morals but blamed mostly women for the problem. Review: Allen had a sexist bias. He felt women were supposed to be the moral compasses for the human race. “Women were the guardians of morality; they were made of finer stuff than men and were expected to act accordingly” (Allen 76). All of the moral decay happening in the United States happened due to the breakdown of female morality.

Of course, this is the male perspective. This revolution was not caused by women, World War I, or anything but human progression through time. Moral decay has affected generations since the beginning of humans.
