This essay mostly focuses on the discussing Edward Snowden, who was a successful NSA contractor, who leaked a great deal of national security information concerning PRISM and other programs that the United States intelligence community is/was utilizing to eavesdrop on domestic as well as global communications. Far more than just another case of espionage and intrigue, the case of Edward Snowden impacts upon global politics due to the fact that this particular individual is seeking asylum in a country that is ultimately unfriendly or at the very least sympathetic to his particular point of view.

The researcher mentiones that as a direct result of the competitive nature of global politics, several nations have immediately jumped to the forefront of seeking to at least tacitly assessed Edward Snowden in his bid to escape the clutches of the United States. As a means of understanding this case to a better degree, the analysis, that was presented in the essay will seek to analyze the global and political ramifications of the Edward Snowden incident, the leak itself, the means by which the United States is responding, and the role in which other nations play and Mike ultimately play in the future with regards to his status and request for asylum.

In conclusion, the researcher states that the situation surrounding Edward Snowden is something of a microcosm with regards to the way in which the global and political power of the United States is being challenged by a litany of different actors.. As a direct result of the competitive nature of global politics, several nations have immediately jumped to the forefront of seeking to at least tacitly assessed Edward Snowden in his bid to escape the clutches of the United States. One can easily understand what nations would be most interested in facilitating his escape from US justice merely by looking at the nations that regularly common into political conflict with the United States and its global policies (Smolowe et al 80).

Accordingly, these nations include but are not limited to, the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, Venezuela, Cuba, and a litany of others. First seeking a degree of asylum in Hong Kong, now part of the People’s Republic of China since 1999, Snowden quickly realized that remaining in Hong Kong any longer would prove to be a liability to his overall bid for freedom due to the fact that the United States was quickly putting together extra edition paperwork and submitting it to the Hong Kong authorities.

As a function of this, he quickly hopped a plane and fled to the Russian Federation. Although the Russian Federation has not actively stated that it is assisting him, it is interesting to note that he is being protected in the Moscow airport until such a time as his further transit is assured. One of the nations that has been deemed most likely to accept Snowden is Ecuador; the very same nation that has housed Julian Assange in its embassy in London for the better part of a year’s time (Newton-Small 22).
