Taking an example of Israeli- Palestinian conflict, this conflict has been there since the early 20th century during the British colony (Malley and Agha 2001). This conflict, which has resulted into violence, has greatly affected the region’s development. It has affected the region’s tourism industry that has been the major economic activity. Many people have shown their interest in the process of peace recovering. One of the nations that have mostly tried to restore peace is the united state of America. The US government has tried to help the Israeli military operation and this act has not shown any everlasting solution to the conflict. Therefore, more effective steps must be taken. These initiatives are the reduction of anti-American sentiment, advancing multilateral action and the involvement in the negotiation process. The peace negotiations seem to be more effective, only if, they are conducted in justice and many mediators involved (Agha and Malley 2002). Good preparations should be conducted before the actual talk; these will be discussed more in the course of this paper. The US government should cut down its help toward the Israel military and instead, try to balance its support to both sides. By doing this, all sides involved might take in to consideration the peace agreement (Erlanger 2007). Israel and Palestinian conflict is the most threatening conflict in the world that has its roots in the early 20th century. The conflict has its early phase, which was between the Zionist yishuv and the Palestine Arab population, under the British colonial rule. The main issues that seem to cause these conflicts are mutual recognition, security, water, boarders, Jerusalem control rights, the settlements of Israeli, freedom of movement for the Palestinian and the question over the refugee issue. The conflict that has resulted into violence has attracted international actions and interventions, all within or between both sides involved in the conflict (Malley and Agha 2001). The violence has greatly affected the expansion of the tourism industry in the region, which has so many historical and religion sites that act as tourist attractions. Since the eruption of this conflict, so many attempts have been made trying to save the situation; among them is the attempt to create free Palestinian and Jewish states. However, there have been points of disagreement and every solution seems to be found. For example, the west bank and Gaza strip regions, where both sides claim them to be in their territorial boarders. There are different views from different people or nations over the matters regarding the solution searching for this ever-increasing violence in this region. Israel, for instant, views her position in the area to be so much insecure, due to the domestic terrorist and foreign attracts from the neighboring states. The Arab nations on the other hand, view these conflicts as the main reason for the regional destabilization in terms of political and ideological views (Malley and Agha 2001). The United States must intervene in order to bring an everlasting solution to this conflict. This should be well calculated so as to balance its goals. In that case, there are various policies that can be used in this situation. One of the policies America should apply is to reduce the anti-American sentiment. This seems to be a major challenge for the United States in this region and has to change its face as a Christian supporter acting against the Arab side (Israeli Ministry of Internal Affairs 2007). Therefore, the US should try and show some act of justice in the eyes of the Middle East states, especially the ones involved in the conflicts, while trying to act in the peace process. This process will enable both sides participate in the peace talks, so that no party feels neglected or undermined, hence achieving peace and stability in the region (Erlanger 2007). The other policy that United States government should apply is to advance multilateral action. United States of America should therefore try not to be the only nation showing interest on this region, by providing military and other forms of help, for a long period of time. A new method has to be applied to include multilateral action during any action taken in the region, especially military issues. While seeking support in the Middle East, United States should put in to consideration the fact that any action taken will be associated with the Israel-Palestinian conflict, mostly by the Arabic nations. The other possible action that should be taken is the process of negotiation which can be achieved by the help of recent developments going on in the region. Looking at the positive economic growth in Israeli and West bank region, this can be taken as the main source of security and also help in the cost of making peace (Agha and Malley 2002). On the other hand, the Palestinian economic gains, although made under harsh conditions, could be used in future to maintain the stability when the peace is achieved in the region. The United States effort should be directed towards the work of achieving the vision of a positive Israeli-Palestinian relationship that might, in return, bring mutual benefits. In this case, the future peace accords should be more promising than the past ones and in that matter there will be much more hope of achieving peace in the region. Therefore, they should include the positive approach towards the economic issues like accessing the oil fields in the coast of Gaza and the Turkey’s water supplies (Karsh and Efrain 2003). Both Israeli and Palestine should be considered internationally at equal measures, giving them an equal share in the global market. During the peace talks, there should be many joint benefits being mentioned rather than numerous painful compromises. Corporations by the name RAND have already taken a step of conducting analysis on things that are required in the building of a stable and successful Palestinian state. It has developed possible strategies that can be used in the construction of infrastructure for the state and issued reports. The report has given a clear vision of advanced transport system connecting the urban areas to the neighboring regions hence providing easier transportation of goods. Therefore, during the peace negotiation, this report should be taken in to the consideration. This is one way in which united state can reduce the donations it gives to Israel every year (Karsh and Efrain 2003). The other issue that needs to be looked at during the negotiations is the issue of socio-emotional element in the conflict. For instance, the Palestinians claim that they have been humiliated since the establishment of the Israeli state. They claim that many of their people have lost their lives and others emotionally tortured by the Jewish since the beginning of the conflict. On the other hand, Israel Jewish is as well angry, for the attacks they have experienced from the Arabic side terrorists. However, each side has its reason to be mad at the other (Karsh and Efrain 2003). Therefore, an intermediary effort is needed to try and emphasize on each side, to be respectful to the other. The United State should therefore intervene as an intermediary instead of giving the Israel money donations; this will reduce the US expenditures on external funding (Israeli Ministry of Internal Affairs 2007). Citizens from each side can use various ways to show respect to each other without necessarily triggering any violence. The United States, as a mediator, can then emphasize on how this can be done effectively without any violence and how to conduct them reciprocally (Karsh and Efrain 2003). One of the ways in which this is possible, is to let both sides appreciate positively whatever action the other side has taken as an initiative towards achieving a peaceful region. For example, when one side takes an economic progress, the other side should positively appreciate and put some helping hand. Leaders from the Israeli Jewish should acknowledge the loss the Palestinian civilians have encountered and try to sympathize with them, in order to show that they feel the pain they have caused them. As well, the Palestinian should acknowledge and admit the terror attacks they have imposed on the Israeli territories. By doing this, it will be easy for the two sides to peacefully come on the table and start negotiations with respect and best regards to each other. The other area that needs to be discussed is the issue of history text books used by the students. Both sides should develop their history and no boundaries should be put on how the books should be used. All the books should be read by both sides without discrimination. Another element that should be taken into consideration during the peace talks is that, members of the high levels in government and those of high standards in terms of socio-financial background must be encouraged to support the peace agreement instead of disrupting it (Agha and Malley 2002). United States as the mediator should make sure all the other members in the grass roots have understood the benefits of this peace agreement. Among these policies that the mediator can apply, the negotiation process seems to be more convenient. One reason is that, there are many methods that can be used to solve the situation without necessarily getting financial support from the US government (Karsh and Efrain 2003). As a matter of fact, the US economy is not very stable at the moment and one of the things that can solve that, is the reduction of the foreign aids. Israeli economy is not doing badly; therefore it is good to let it be responsible for all the actions it takes. This might even make them reduce their attacks towards the Palestine because of lack of many funds. In conclusion, apart from these ideas, more mediators are required so that the members realize that even other nations are concerned about recovering peace in the region. Therefore, it will not be seen like The United States’ interest is to take control of the region’s resources. In this initiative the other stakeholders are United Kingdom, China, Turkey and the United Nations, all with one mission, to restore peace in the Gulf region. The possibility of attempting these actions will be enhanced and successful if all the stakeholders get into it immediately without hesitating.
