During my reign, Rome experienced downfalls and upheavals and thus I would like to stay an anonymous emperor. Just to give an unprejudiced look at the way events could happen in the Roman Empire…The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire have remained a great challenge for modern scientists and researchers. Currently, the prevention of the Roman Empire collapse may be a good lesson for modern politicians. I would like to teach them a lesson about politician malpractices in the Roman Empire.

At first, such kinds of social changes should have been introduced. I would like to focus on lands of provinces. Large provinces should have been positioned as profitable agricultural territories. Such kind of opportunity should be considered as a social and economical improvement. Unfortunately, the peasantry was on the way to its disappearance and the emperors did not care about this phenomenon. Moreover, economical improvements should be introduced in the trading sphere. Unlike the major focus on the slave trade, it would be relevant to focus on agricultural trade. The military potential of the Empire should be supported by improvement in the military potential of the Empire. Therefore, I would like to introduce socio-economical changes, which would benefit the Empire’s prosperity. I think that these changes can prevent the downfall.

The greatest military magnates of the Roman Empire were its main advantage. The prospect of civil war had been prevented in the Roman Empire thanks to its well-developed military potential. Unfortunately, everlasting risky and unpredictable wars of the Empire with its neighbors had devastated its strength. Therefore, the concept of peace should have been reinterpreted by the emperors. A state of peace should not have been considered as the absence of enemies. Vice versa, the most difficult task was to balance relations with neighbors. This is not easy even for the modern rulers, still, the development of international relations shows to people how it is possible to have a piece in the country and avoid a state of war. To preserve Roman prosperity was the most crucial issue for the emperors. Thus, they should have persuaded their people in the necessity to keep order and peace in the Roman society and avoid abundant risky wars with the neighbors.

Therefore, two basic pillars of the future prosperity of the Roman Empire could have been as follows: people and a correct international policy. The emperors of the Empire should have been focused on societal concerns more and not on illusive opportunities of the Empire’s enrichment, which can be gained during risky wars in which many people were killed that made the Roman Empire weaker. Moreover, these wars not always could bring the desired result and not all emperors could reach the set goals by means of wars. Unfortunately, now I leave in peace in Heaven, but my people experienced sorrow and deaths. Unwise policies of the emperors, their inattentiveness to the most crucial issues resulted in the collapse of the greatest empire.

The neighbors of the Roman Empire should have benefited from the hostile moods of their rivalry. It was clearly seen, that the great Empire was being devastated and destructed under conditions of everlasting wars. Therefore, the Roman Empire was its own creator. The Roman Empire was its own destructor. There is no need to blame anyone, but just to tell the modern politicians to talk and not to fight. The price of war is huge. The gains of war are often elusive and the ends do not always justify the means.
