Name: Tutor: Task: Date: USE OF DRUGS AND GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY Introduction There are very many techniques that are being used towards treating obesity but by the end of the day everyone wants to know which method is more reliable thus it can only be concluded after deeply looking at approaches that are taken such as the use of drugs and gastric bypass surgery. Using drugs and gastric bypass surgery towards treating obesity in children is one of the best and most recommended techniques because they have low risks of increasing the mortality rate of victims of obesity (Artemis 97). For us to know more about the effects of the use of gastric bypass and drugs on the victims of obesity it is good to know what is meant by the term obesity, gastric bypass surgery and the surgical techniques that exist as far as obesity is concerned. Obesity Obesity is one of the diseases resulted by excess accumulation of fat in the body of human beings. In most cases obesity affects children who are very young and are over fed by their parents. Obesity is a disease that can lead to worse medical conditions such as compact life expectancy and other health problems (Fletcher 301).Obesity is viewed from different perceptive by different people in the world since they all have different beliefs towards the disease. People who are categorized as obese are those who are over weighted. Obesity is determined by carefully comparing the weight and height of an individual .In most cases when the topic on obesity is discussed, there is more focus on the disadvantages that it has because they are more than the advantages. Most of the time obesity brings about many other dangerous diseases such as cancer, diabetes and difficulties in breathing (Fletcher 301). Breathing becomes very hard for victims suffering from obesity and it becomes worst for children who are very young and might not be taking part to any physical activities. It is also caused by lack of physical fitness such as doing exercise such as jogging or other forms of gymnastic that might result to excessive fats accumulation in the body. (Artemis 95).It can also be caused by genetic susceptibility, endocrine disorders and psychiatric illness among other causes. People who eat a lot are mainly warned not to continue doing so due to fear that they might become victims of obesity but this in most cases can be debated because even people who do not eat a lot can becomes due to other causes such as slow metabolism (Fletcher 301). Averagely people suffering from obesity tend to have expenditure that is greater than their counter parts that are thin since the energy required for the increase of body mass are not there (Robert 68). Much research has been done on the quest to get treatment for obesity but the mainstays have been discovered to be good physical fitness and good dieting. In case this attempt to cure obesity fails, drugs against obesity can be taken so as to reduce the appetite of the victim or some inhibits of fat absorption (Fletcher 301).When all these attempts fail then surgery can be considered as an option towards treatment obesity or an intragastric balloon can also be placed so as to reduce the volume of the stomach or its vowel length. In the modern world there are many diseases that cause death but there are those that increase the mortality rate of people more than others and obesity is one of these diseases thus approaches towards treating it are advisable. Obesity has been considered to be one of the most prevalent diseases in the 21st century owing to the fact that it affects both children and adults almost at the same rate thus increasing the death rate of populations of people all over the world. Most of the people who suffer from obesity are those from the western countries due to the fact that most of these people prefer consuming foods that are full of fats (Artemis 95).Most people perceived this evidence as a symbol of the western people being wealthy but it has been discovered that it is as a result of poor eating habits. Some other parts of the world still hang on to the myth that being obese is as a result of being wealthy in the modern world. Classification of obesity Obesity in children is defined in different perspectives since they get affected in relation to their ages and sex. It is not advisable for children to be given too much food that contains a lot of fat because it might affect their health thus this is one of the approaches taken towards reducing the number of obesity victims (Artemis 95). The data taken in relation to the children affected by obesity might not be reliable because most of the times the data is taken over a period of time but in recent years the number has increased drastically. The number of people being affected by obesity tends to be more in children and adolescents as compared to adults. The average weight of a human being in most parts of the world is considered to be 56.6kg and the ideal weight of a child is 35kg (George 35). When a normal increases his weight beyond 85kg, he is considered to be an obese person thus he needs to start taking action towards cutting that weight and attending gym sessions that will entail sit ups among other forms of gymnastic that is concerned with reducing the weight of an obese person. Obesity is measured by using the BMI and this means that it is divided by knowing the mass of the subject and multiplying it with his height. The definition of obesity defers from one country to another thus it can be debated which weight is to be defined as a general weight for people from all over the world (Robert 68). There are countries that have a lower definition of obesity as compared to others but all in all it amounts to having too much weight as compared to the normal weight. In most cases people tend to associate weight that is excessive with many diseases especially diseases like diabetes and obstructive sleep among other diseases that has an effect on their health. Obesity increases chances of one acquiring metal and also physical conditions (Fletcher 301). Gastric bypass surgery Gastric bypass is one of the groups of operations used for the treatment of morbid obesity that is mainly caused by accumulation of a lot of weight that is composed of fatty tissue. Gastric bypass ensures that the stomach is divided into different pouches that are composed of the upper and the lower pouches alternatively (Mary 70). It allows these pouches to remain connected to each other thus it ensures that the small intestines are well rearranged. A lot of experiments have been done by surgeons in the world towards reconnecting the intestines and all these leads to different names of GBP. The good thing about the GBP is that any mentioned GBP can lead to reduced stomach volume and this is very important because it will enable an obese victim to be able to overcome the challenges that they face (Fletcher 301). Gastric bypass surgery is one of the best approaches that have been taken towards reducing the mortality rate of victims suffering from gastric bypass. Gastric bypass in most cases happen when the obese victims have failed treating the disease through all possible means such as failing to satisfy and also sustain their efforts of losing weight by all possible efforts. Efforts that are taken towards reducing weight are such as dietary efforts and other forms of losing weight in the 21st century (Fletcher 301). Image of gastric bypass (Mary, 2004). All these efforts are usually being considered so as to ensure that co-morbid conditions that could be life threatening or could lead to impairment that is serious to life quality. In the previous years obesity that was serious used to be believed and interpreted that anyone whose weight was 45kg more than the “average body weight” and that people whose body weight is beyond the average body weight (Fletcher 301).This criterion was not favorable for people with short stature in the society. In the process of looking for methods of treating obesity, most of the suggested methods all failed except the Body Mass Index or the (BMI) because it was widely accepted by the consensus of the national health. The BMI is found by dividing the square of the height of an individual and his weight which is measured in kilograms and the result is usually given between the numbers 20 and 70 which is in kilograms/m2 (Fletcher 301). There are about four methods that are used for morbidity obesity surgery and are accepted by the national Institute of health and gastric bypass is one of these four types and it is also accepted and depended upon. Suggestions towards coming up with a method or technique for the treatment of obesity was put across by both scientists and non-scientific doctors since they both had different opinions that could still be used towards coming up with a convincing conclusion(George 35). Surgical techniques There are very many surgical techniques that are being used in the modern world towards reducing the number of obesity victims in the society and one of these techniques is the implementation of gastric bypass which occurs in very many forms but all towards the performance of surgery (Mary 43). The number of surgical operations related to gastric bypass has highly increased recently and since it can be performed with access that is limited, then it has been categorized under the term “laparoscopy”. This is one of the most advanced techniques of surgery that has been discovered and is very effective in the 21st century and this means that it is very reliable. This method is advantageous because it does not allow just anyone to partake in the surgery performance taking place. The process involves looking at different incisions which are passed through a telescope and then connected to a video camera and other operating instruments that are specialized. Everything that the surgeon does is viewed on a screen of a video camera since the method is only limited to someone who can handle different tissues in the body of an organism (George 35). Only surgeons who are highly skilled in laparoscopy are allowed to participate in this surgical performance because using the telescope might not be an easy task for a common user in the society. (Artemis 95).This is a good and reliable approach since it ensures that the job that is done is only done by trusted professionals and this means that the lives of victims are not put in any danger. This technique has been considered to be one of the most difficult to be performed in the modern world but the only thing about it is that it reduces the chance of the victims to stay in the hospital thus getting their treatments done in an effective way and on time as compared to other methods. DRUG AND GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY IN CHILDREN Children who are suffering from obesity needs to be treated as soon as it is discovered that they are being affected by the disease because this could lead to little sleep that will be caused by limited breathing abilities during sleep and could cause death (George 35).Adults can be exposed to various techniques that are used to ensure that a victim has been cured but for children this can be very tricky because they might be able to perform some of the approaches that are being taken towards treating this disease. Conclusion In conclusion children cannot be exposed to jogging or other gymnastic approaches that adults can use thus looking at the use of drug and gastric bypass surgery might be a good idea Using Gastric bypass surgery methods and also giving drugs that are effective to children is one of the best approaches to take towards treating obesity in children. Gastric Bypass surgery is a more reliable approach owing to the fact that it has a combination of several approaches in it and it uses more sophisticated approaches that reduces the mortality rate of obesity victims in the modern world (Mary 43). Using drugs for the treatment of obesity is also a reliable approach because the drugs being given to the victims are usually very well regulated and have been composed by many components of diet that is important for body of the victims.
