Kansell Partin Heath Care Sectors 5th November Private vs. Public Solutions to Health Care In response to the problemsthat emerge in the health sector, it is crucial to discuss the private vs. Public solution to health care in relation to incentives and insurance market problems. Over the years, the debates of implementing health care reform have gained attention. In essence, some health care institutions have compromised quality care for money and the results have been pathetic. Most deaths have occurred, which in the actual sense could have been protected if there was quality health care. The poor and the less privileged have received poor care because of their financial status while the wealthy people have obtained the benefits of quality care that comes with a cost. Some people believe that quality care should depend on an individual financial status while others believe that every individual has the right to access quality care irrespective of his financial status. Irrespective of whether private sector a time offers better care than public sector, this memo provides a balanced presentation of private vs. public solutions to health care. It is crucial to note that, health care reforms are crucial as they promote health equality in the public sector. It favours the less privileged, poor, and those who do not have health insurance. A perfect example is Obamacare, which since its establishment has had superb reputation of escalating healthcare access. Millions of young people between the age of 19 and 25 years have the opportunity to be included in their parents’ plans. Obamacare has laid a strong ground where many young people can access health care despite of earning less or not working. The Act has been set up in such a way that, parents can include their children in the health insurance plan up to age 25 or 26 years (Hunnicutt 12). This benefits insurance companies in that they receive more premiums even when an individual is healthy. Secondly, millions of uninsured people can access affordable health care in the marketplace. Such initiatives in the health care sector minimize health care cost and make the services more accessible to those who cannot get insurance. Usually, the government establishes the need to distribute healthcare to those who cannot afford or manage to pay for health insurance. When health care services are affordable in the public sector, it benefits women in that the incentives expand contraception availability and coverage. Such incentives help women to plan for their future in relation to the number of children they want or get. Fourthly, Low-income individuals are more likely to enjoy quality services. In other words, it enhance medical expansion to cover millions of low-income families and individuals, which in turn decreases mortality rate since many people will not stay in illness. It also promotes wellness and preventive services without any difficulties (Armstrong and Hugh 34). Even though most governments such as American does a lot in expanding health care, the initiatives may have negative effects on most workers who are forced to pay taxes. This is because employed individuals are forced to pay taxes to meet the cost of health care. The taxation policy is set in such a way that, the more an individual earns the more he/she pays more taxes. With this, health care incentives directly affect wealthy individuals who pay huge taxes to meet the funding or the cost of healthcare. With this issue in mind, most people prefer private sector of health since it may not fully compromise quality care. The increased coverage of health may increase health costs since many people may end up receiving preventive care even when they do not have critical illness. The additional tests such as cholesterol tests and cancer screening may increase medical spending, thus, making it difficult for the government to cater for the cost. Health care initiatives may also increase drug cost considering that many people have the opportunity to be examine and treated often (Ferguson 11). When people have the chance to cater for their medical cost, most hospitals may their systems for quality care instead of providing quantity care. As many people have the benefits and opportunities of accessing affordable health care that meets their budget, most hospitals may have to meet a small segment thus give them adequate attention. However, when people are provided free medical services in the public sector, many hospitals would end up compromising quality care in the attempt of meeting the large population. Healthcare institutions may find it hard to motivate their employees to perform effectively. The large population may increase unintended consequences of having to work hard to improve wellness and preventive services. Lastly, those who are financially stable may opt for private hospitals that have better facilities and healthcare systems. Although the major goal of health care incentives is to increase health care for all without compromising quality. However, as the health care incentives have some disadvantages, it becomes for many to opt for private sector (Haugen and Susan 77). The insurance market is crucial in providing quality care (Merino 11). However, it is crucial to note that this targets the wealth who can afford the cost. In essence, the solution of providing quality care relies on paying the cost that aligns with the services provided. Health insurance marketplace has a chance to protect families, small business, and individuals to get health coverage. It is crucial to note that, the health insurance industry has been among the most notable and powerful interest in every state. Specifically, some countries such as the United States to reform health care. Regardless how expensive health insurance seem, it is evident that individual insurance market cover over 19 billion people globally. This lays a strong ground to keep health coverage better to those who can meet the cost (Stavans 11). To sum up, it is crucial to balance the private vs. public solutions to health care. To understand what is needed, it is important to understand the needs that are in each sector and the best solutions that can be implemented. From the ongoing discussion, it is evident that the public sector needs initiatives that enhance quality care. The public sector often undergoes problems with long waiting in the hospital and compromised health care. However, the private sector undergoes problems with expensive health cost and this hinders many from affording it. With this, it is crucial to introduce health informative to solve health equality and affordable care. In the private sector, it is important for people to embrace health insurance coverage that promotes safety and well-being. Thus far, this memo concludes that every government should work hard to implement the mentioned solutions. Works Cited Armstrong, Pat, and Hugh Armstrong. Health Care. Halifax: Fernwood Pub, 2008.
