The Baldrige program works to raise awareness concerning the significances of performance excellence for the US economy at the global level. It offers educational opportunities to leaders of different sectors, such as health practitioners, doctors, and nurses, to gain professional knowledge and manage the organizations at its best. The main aim of the Malcolm Baldrige program is to improve the performances and standards of all US organizations and the life standard of US citizens. Health is a major issue of the US, so this program seeks to provide better opportunities to health sectors in order to improve health standards.

On the other hand, the Deming prize is an institute established due to the efforts of W. Edwards. This organization works to motivate people through prizes and appraisal in order to improve the quality of control and management. Apart from prizes, this firm also provides relevant information, contact details, expenses, and examination fees to interested health care sectors in order to support them, improve their standard and quality of outcomes. This paper aims at evaluating differences and similarities between these two programs with the comparative analysis of their organizational profile, key terms, criteria, and cost of application, critical factors, and other contributions of these programs, particularly in healthcare sectors.

Background context of Baldrige performance excellence program reveals that during the 1980s the leaders of the United States realized that American businesses are required to focus on strategies, which are useful for improving the quality and standards of global markets. Formation of Baldrige performance excellence has its roots in the contribution of commerce secretary Malcolm Baldrige worked dedicatedly for prosperity and of the US companies. After his death, Congress named an award for the highly valued contributions of Malcolm (Dooley, Bush, Anderson, & Rungtusanatham, 1990).

However, three decades back a similar program already established to monitor and improve the quality standards of Japanese organizations. Its historical record shows that Dr. Deming, an American author, and consultant, was invited by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) to deliver a lecture on “One-Day Course on Quality Control for Top Management”.
