The author concludes that the state needs not increase sporting activities to reduce obesity because the obese are not utilizing the sports that are in place currently.

The article explains how the media has increased awareness of obesity by using images, movies, commercials, and programs that ridicule obese people. The author argues that the media’s focus on the disease is caused by the American ideology that people are responsible for everything that happens to them. The author, however, argues that although this is a good strategy, it discourages obese people from losing excess weight.
