The hospital highly advocates for the well being and health of all children. It has a 263 bed capacity, and it is supported by the Children’s Hospital Foundation. The hospital also serves as a pediatric teaching facility for the School of Medicine in the University of Louisville. The hospital has been ranked the top in US for its 8 out of 10 specialties. 2. Physical settings of facilities The hospital is heavily equipped with equipments and facilities to handle all child conditions. The physical facilities include beds, intensive care units, and cardiology equipments among many others. The facilities are well arranged in the hospital depending on the type of service they offer. They are also well arranged and put in records to ease access in emergency times. A perfect example is the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) which has a 97 bed capacity which are for intensive and critical care newborns, isolation rooms, private rooms for storage of beds and other valuables, Kids Kare which is a home settings for all the babies in need of long term care or those who are machine dependent as well as Pedway access between the hospital and Norton Hospital. 3. Consumer and patient rights in the organization The patient’s rights to confidentiality and privacy are highly respected in the hospital. No is required to ask a patient or any family member as to the reason behind the admission of their child into the hospital. The hospital staff should never give any detailed information on the types of illnesses or even injuries which may make children be admitted in the hospital. Group members are highly encouraged to ask general questions about the patients as well as the services provided by the hospital. Information about patients and their families should never be shared with anybody outside the hospital. Diversity of values and cultures between different families should be highly respected. Group members should be positive and enthusiastic in order to end interactions whenever the patient gets tired, and they should be empathetic but should not show any signs of pity to the patients. 7. Employee and human resource issues The employees in Kosair Children’s Hospital are more than employees; in fact they are co workers and friends. The employees simply live as members of the same family. The employees find their work to be quite fulfilling as the work environment is pleasing hence boosting their morale. There are minimal human resources and employee issues in the hospital as the employees are well paid and they work in favorable conditions. The hospital has recently announced its new “No Hit Zone” in order to create a calm and safe environment for everyone. 8. Global and community impact Kosair Children’s Hospital has a communal and global impact on the lives of children. For example, the hospital serves more than 120,000 children per year by addressing all health issues and social determinants which have a negative impact on their health. The hospital has branches in Paducah, Dupont, Frankfort and Owensboro in order to enable it meets the increasing health care needs in children. Though its impact may be felt globally, the community impact is more as the hospital takes care of the needy children in the community. It is also from its communal impact that the hospital has been earning donations from Children’s Hospital Foundation. 9. It has the required work force and the best equipments which the hospital can use in expansion Threats There have been reports on low patient satisfaction from the hospital lately and this may result into a decrease in the hospital revenue and a decrease in patient turnover.
