?A reflective paper on the mastery of data analysis Capstone Portfolio A reflective paper on the mastery of data analysis on the following fields Current epidemiologic systems In this study, I learned on the theory and application of data techniques used in genetic epidemiology. The techniques include linkages, discussion of association studies, and segregation analysis. Statistical methods used in analyzing missing data use computational tools like Emalgorithim and the Gibbs’ sampler. Ignorable and non-ignorable mechanisms for finding missing data basically use data that arises from epidemiological studies. I can also remember that regressional modelling is among the most widely used approaches analysing epidemiology. Gaining extra insights into an illness system by just switching to a more broad data analytic model is clearly very attractive, especially when the theoretical basis for the more broad approach are long established (Berkowitz, 1997). Economic systems It was evident from the lectures that the bureau of economic analysis in the U.S produces some of the most keenly watched economic statistics that have an impact on the government decisions. According to the Quarterly data of this year, the output of goods and services got from the property and labour located in the U.S increased at a yearly rate of 2.5% in the second quarter. Based on the third estimate recorded by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, GDP increased by 1.1% in the first quarter. However, insurance, finance, and durable-goods manufacturing as well as wholesale trade were ranked as the leading contributors to the economic growth of the U.S in 2012. Population systems In this analysis, there are different databases designed for different age groups of the total population. I found the kids’ impatient database to be the most significant one as it is documented after every three years yet it is a powerful and unique nationwide database for children in hospitals. It has a model of paediatric discharges from non-rehabilitation hospitals and communities. This database, called KID is the sole dataset on hospital charges, uses, and outcomes meant to study children’s use of services in the hospitals. The fact finder is the source of finding population data from the national to regional levels. Healthcare trends According to the findings of SearchHealthIT.com, Many hospitals are making use of analytic tools to help achieve the goals of reducing costs and improving efficiency. 42% of respondents on the survey point that they really desire to see those tools in action. However, 56% think that the wish to observe federal mandates and initiate clinical outcomes for patients is the driving force behind the use of analytics. Hospitals are equally starting to plan on implementing data analytics. Legal and ethical standards Even though principles, policies, and codes are very significant and essential, like any regulations, they do not address all situations. The codes always conflict, and they need considerable interpretation. Researchers need to learn on how to assess, interpret, and apply different research regulations and how to make sound decisions to act in different situations. Healthcare research The idea here is on the way to improve data collection in the health care system. Health care research data shows that spending patterns change with time, and they affect various payers like Medicaid, employers, private insurers, and Medicare. In 2010, the 5% of the population with the highest care expenses in American population used 49% of the total healthcare dollar. The five most costly health conditions are cancer, heart disease, mental disorders, pulmonary disorders, and trauma. However, definite spending is unevenly distributed across persons, specific illnesses, segments of the population, and payers of the services. For example, 15 most costly health conditions are associated with 44% of the total health care costs. Global health Based on the data findings by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social affairs, the increase in non-communicable illnesses like diabetes, cancer, and heart disease has sharpened the concentration on long term issues on health systems in all developed and developing countries. The roots of the altering illness burden cut across all populations and broad lifestyle changes especially alcoholism, smoking, lack of exercises, and poor diet. Data shows that health systems are basically geared towards curative and acute care as opposed to long-term and preventive care, with too much work left for scarce clinicians all over the world. Continuum of care This is recognized as the basic tool in communities to address issues related to homelessness as proved by the active participation of many organizations and yearly implementations and sessions. Data shows that currently, the task force is using three committees to accomplish the continuing work of Continuum of care planning. These committees symbolize different groupings of stakeholders and address specific aspects of the COC strategy. Research shows that program and policy attention is changing towards a newborn, maternal, and child health COC. Health care systems A transformation in health care is being made easy by the Health Information Technology. This means that electronically accessible health data are not mere claims of data any longer, but inclusive of all clinically equipped data which can be connected more easily with other databases. Holders and sources of electronic health data are spreading beyond HIPAA protections for individual health records (Berkowitz, 1997). In addition, in regions like personal enhanced health records, electronic solutions to secure and protect data are still evolving, inclusive of the emergence of techniques to permit persons consent to follow data. The role of a healthcare administrator Health care administrators are vital to the thriving of inter-professional care since they frequently are in a powerful position to implement and champion the system-wide structural and cultural conditions. The administrators run the health sector practices, organizing and coordinating of health facilities. The executives in this field are highly learned persons responsible for general policy directions. Their role is to assess the necessity for services, personnel, and equipment as well as making recommendations concerning the curtailment and expansion of services. These administrators also supervise compliance with government regulations and agencies. However, their roles differ with the operations and the size of the health facility where they work. In huge facilities, they can delegate roles and dedicate more time to direct policies. Health administrators are trained for specific roles and involve themselves in implementing procedures and policies in their respective departments, and at the same time coordinating their duties with other managers.
