Each of these sub organizational units and departments in and of itself has distinct and noticeable differentials with regard to how they approach the issue of healthcare. As a means of explicating this differential to a greater degree, the following analysis will seek to underscore and elaborate upon three distinct help service providers that exist within the framework of the United States government. Accordingly, the following entities will be analyzed and categorized based upon the actual needs that they seek to fulfill and the specific tasks that they are intended to engage members of society with: the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

In such a way, delineating the differences in scope and key activities that each of these distinct organizations participate in will help the reader to come to a more informed understanding of the way in which key healthcare needs within United States society are met by different organizations and aspects of different departments and functions of governance. Firstly, with regard to the CDC, this particular organization seeks to engage a general level of understanding as well as key preventative steps as a means of reducing the affliction of a variety of different healthcare issues that currently plague society.

More specifically, as human health and eating habits change, the CDC operates an active research component that seeks to engage scholarly research as a means of ensuring that a broad swath of society is keenly aware of some of the health issues that have recently been determined to affect their specific demographic and/or the population in general. Whereas other government entities seek to operate by directly providing grants to subunits and furthering health indirectly through partners and programs, the CDC is unique in that it provides a direct level of service and research with regard to the healthcare of society at large.

As it is one of the more active components of government sponsored health research and development, it also is charged with working hand in hand with the FDA and other entities to seek to measure levels of harm or benefit that certain substances or diets can have upon the individual. Further, the CDC is also charged with seeking to maintain and research some of the most deadly viruses and diseases known to man. As a function of this, it is the hope of the stakeholders that this research will yield important clues with respect to helping to banish these diseases from the face of the planet.

Secondly, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), is a subunit of the United States Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). As a function of this, it acts and serves as a go between an administrator of the Medicare program as well as state Medicaid programs throughout the nation. The scope and mission of this particular entity has greatly expanded in the past several years due to the passage of the Affordable Health Care Act of 2009 (Burns, Bradley & Weiner, 2012). As a result of the expansion of this program in an attempt to ensure that individuals within society were no longer left without any level of healthcare service due to lack of economic wherewithal, the role and scope that this particular entity has have only increased with time.

However, outside of the responsibility to maintain both Medicaid and Medicare, this particular entity is also tasked with ensuring that quality standards and certification processes are upheld for long-term care facilities throughout the United States. Lastly, just as with the CMS, the Health
