Interim assignment Introduction Healthcare sector is under a lot of pressure to take a complete overhaul on how to manage its activities with the main target of improved healthcare quality. The emerging health related issues can only be remedied by reforming the governance system and considering some critical parts of this sector. Different areas across the globe have different problems to grapple with. In this case a lot of consideration will be accorded efficacy/effectiveness and its influence on the quality of service delivery to the patients. However, it has been realized that bias in research studies has some influence on the outcome (Grobbee and Arno, pg 56-80). Statement of the problem Quality of service offered to patients and other healthcare organization clients is always focused to satisfaction and positive feedback. Efficacy or effectiveness of the staff and the policies of the organization are vital in shaping the standard of performance of the healthcare providers. The challenge is therefore based on what kind of governance and the corresponding implementation of policies to enforce efficacy. The overall issue to address above all the above discussed issue is the effect of bias in this investigation (Gerrish, Kate, and Anne, pg 78-9). Objectives of the study The general aim of undertaking a research study on the role of effectiveness of the healthcare provision is to improve the quality of services to customers. However, the specific objective of considering this problem is to establish the influence of bias in undertaking a research study in efficacy for customer satisfaction. Research questions Is efficacy an important factor in quality service to the clients? Is the rate of recovery of the patients related to the effectiveness of the staff? Is efficacy significant in healthcare provision? Is bias to blame for inefficacy in healthcare provision? Significance of the study This investigation is vital in establishing the facts surrounding the effect of biasness when drawing conclusions concerning the role of efficacy in satisfaction of patients. In carrying out this assessment it would be easier to help in formulation of plan and proposal to the concerned authorities so that the people can be saved from the side effects of this problem. Data obtained in this case would equally be important in providing baseline information for future reference and literature review. Target Population The target population in this assessment will be the expectant mothers. This is a class of patients that requires technical knowhow in time and therefore would serve as the best population from which the sample could be chosen. Discussions The independent variable in this experiment will be the effectiveness of staff will explain the variation in rate of recovery in percentage as the dependent variable. This could be framed in a question form as follows; is efficacy important determining the outcome in a patient? The relationship between the two variables graphically presented from the sample is as shown % recovery rate 56 36 45 71 % Level of efficacy From the table above it is evident that efficacy is directly related to % rate of recovery. This can be shown using the diagram where an increase in % level efficacy from 45-71 increases the satisfaction % from 36 to 56. Some of the factors that affect level of efficacy include the equipment endowment of the health workers and the working environment. On the other hand, customer satisfaction may also be affected by extraneous factors like personal initiative and positive attitude. One common denominator that will affect both explanatory and explained variables above is attitude. This concept is for both the patient and nurse for a common goal of quick recovery. It has a direct relationship with all the variables explored. Extraneous variables tend to have a great influence into the observation of the experiment but may not be considered because the observation is always attached to the variable under question (Wood, Marilynn and Janet, pg136-8). In this case Personal attitude may significantly explain the outcome of patients’ quick recovery yet in the investigation it is not instead as one of the variables. In this case it may be easy for a researcher to make unfounded conclusion that efficacy explains any observed change in the explained variable. It is therefore very common to make conclusions and recommendations by excluding the effect of attitude and this will result to unrealistic conclusion about the magnitude of the level of satisfaction of the clients. Measurement errors are likely to occur especially where the customers are induced to give sewed opinion in favor of the nurses and this would pose a future erroneous finding which translates to undesirable results. It is worth noting that attitude is qualitative in nature and this poses a challenge in estimating the magnitude of it that can trigger a given size of influence on the finding. Research design It is imperative that the best methods of sampling techniques are applied so that the sample is representative of the population by characteristics and number. The target population in this case is the expectant mothers of different ages. Out of the possible 700 population of women in this category, it will be in order to take a sample of 150 through random sampling. Methods of data collection Oral interview is the most appropriate for this population sample due to the nature of the problem and conditions that may not be encouraging to write. This would be time and cost saving besides exploring exhaustively the opinions of various individuals in respect of their own personal experiences with the healthcare staff. Oral interview is also important in giving firsthand information which may also be refined by the interviewee. In that respect I would prefer face to face oral interview with this group of people. In the analysis of data it would be effective to apply statistical tests of significance to establish a clear relationship between the variables in this case. This would be backed up by some description to make understanding of the subjects easy. Such research design would provide the best mode of testing hypothesis at a easier way. In summary, efficacy is a significant player in patients’ recovery when admitted to any healthcare. It also measures the relative quality of manpower that the clinic has (Nugent, pg 91-5).
