This leads to an increase in the amount of glucose in the blood, and a considerable amount is lost through the urine and is not taken up by the body cells. (Diabetes Mellitus) Type 1 Diabetes starts in childhood, and results in the pancreas not being able to produce insulin. As discussed earlier, lack of insulin prevents the cells from taking up the glucose to produce energy. The main risk of having type 1 diabetes is a family history of diabetes. People, in this case children, who have a long history of family members suffering from diabetes are more prone to suffer from type 1 diabetes.

It is highly advised that children who have a direct relative suffering from diabetes, such as siblings or parents, should get checked for type 1diabetes. This can easily be checked by performing a blood test, and sending the blood sample for checking. Along with this, any damage to the pancreas or any disease involving pancreas can also lead to a reduced or no production of insulin, and thus leading to type 1 diabetes. Moving on, type 2 diabetes although is more common in adults, it can still occur at any time during our life.

It is, as discussed, is the inability of the body to use the insulin properly that is produced by the pancreas. . The usual symptoms include increased urination; need to drink more water, increased hunger and feeling unusually tired. Type 1 diabetes has a range of symptoms: feeling thirsty all the time, inclination to urinate more often, dry mouth, quick weight loss, feeling weak and getting a hazy vision. While symptoms for type 2 diabetes are almost the same as type 1 diabetes, except it does not lead to weight loss, and also include: small injuries take longer than usual to heal and skin infections or itchy skin becomes common.

Type 1 and 2 diabetes can be diagnosed in a few ways. Type 2 diabetes can often be recognized by frequent urination and increased thirst. Other than this, diabetes is recognized through a screening test. This test can confirm if a person has a diabetes or not, and if he or she does, then how serious it is. Normally, it is advised that screening test should be taken by adult between the age of forty and fifty, while people with a family history of diabetes should take the test early in life. (Diabetes Information) Treatment for diabetes is readily available, and if treated properly and effectively, a person can live with both kinds of diabetes.

Normally, treatment is focused on individuals than the type of diabetes they are suffering from. The major goal of the treatment is to lower the blood glucose levels and bring them to the normal level. Type 1 diabetes is harder to control as it involves the lack of insulin and it has to be treated almost daily. The treatment involves a rigorous diet control plan, followed by different exercise plans, several insulin injections and glucose testing. Type 2 diabetes is a little easier to control.

The treatment for this includes strict diet
