Extract of sample "Field Trip to a Strippers Club"

A stripper is a person who strips; it is sometimes termed an occupation, which involves taking one's clothes off with an aim of sexual stimulation of others. A higher percentage of strippers are women/ladies. The body is the only thing that a stripper considers an asset. Her emotions and mind are not as important as her body (Scott, 2003). There was dancing involved; with the dancers seductively revealing their private parts. Those in participation were the strippers themselves (men and women) and executive clients, who were mostly men. I would tell the executive clients about the type of cars parked outside the club and the presence of bodyguards.

Did this perception change after the visit (field trip)?
Before the visit, my impression of strippers was sexually immoral acts. I changed my perception after interrogating some participants. Most of them do this to earn a living, pay their bills, and go to school, and no one forces these men and women to do what they do. Most of those I interacted with had no problem with showing their private parts in exchange for money.

How was that impression shaped by your feelings and beliefs about sexuality?
My perception of strippers changed after the trip. Previously I viewed them as prostitutes and despised what they did; I never really understood why they did such acts. The trip made me realize that these people are just like anybody else and that what they do is just like any other job. I do not think it is erroneous for single men to go to strip clubs provided this does not become a habit, and it is not done when they already have a soul mate or kids.

Did the field trip change your beliefs about sexuality?
The trip changed my belief about sexuality. I came to see that I was wrong, not every stripper is too focused on sexual activity, and they do not think it is more important than it is. They just see taking their clothes off as a job to get their daily bread.

Who might approve or disapprove of the club strip? Why
Not all people in society may approve of activities in a strip club. Some of those who may disapprove of this include married couples, Religious leaders, and parents among others. These individuals disapprove of strip clubs as they find them to be disrespectful, and immoral, and according to Christianity our body is a temple of God and should not be exposed (Price-Glynn, 2010). People with open minds, ready to have fun approve of strip clubs. They see such places as avenues of sexual entertainment.
Would you participate in the field trip again and why?

I would gladly participate in the field trip again as I have nothing to judge against strip clubs anymore now that I fully understand the point of view of the strippers. Those women/men who choose to do this job are not forced to climb a pole and willingly show their private parts. They engage in stripping to earn a living. For instance, strippers and those in offices do their job with a common objective, to earn money (Scott, 2003).

A memorable part of the visit to the strip club
A memorable part of the visit is being attended to by a stripper. I consider this an epic experience as no one has ever given me a lap dance, and I admit it is a memorable sexually stimulating experience.

Understanding of sexuality in society as a result of the experience?
After the field trip, my understanding of sexuality changed. Those involved in different forms of sexual activities should not be portrayed as immoral. I do agree that sexuality is both right and wrong depending on one's viewpoint. In addition, our beliefs and attitudes concerning our sexuality are distinctive from our sexual behavior. Read More
