?Abortion should be a woman’s choice The proponent chooses to publish a blog concerning abortion and the women’s choice of initiating it.The blog proposes the idea concerning abortion as a woman’s choice as part of what feminists are fighting for. Feminists fight for women’s right to have choices. This substantially includes fighting for the women’s freedom to choose; especially those they think may be the best options for them in consideration of some circumstances or factors. This blog includes some social issues that could influence the choice for abortion as an alternative course of action among women. In particular, the proponent tries to establish the point that these issues are influential prior to the actual decisions of women to go for abortion or any other relevant means. In addition, this blog will serve as a way of information dissemination without showing any partiality, but just to demonstrate the reality why some women may probably result to abortion as a course of action. The problem Abortion is a controversial social issue because it does not only include subjects about the law, but directly concerns women’s health. This is a social issue that needs to be addressed because it deals with life. Concerning this, people have varying point of views, creating a need to establish or draw the line of understanding. The variation of points on abortion could stand as an ultimate problem because its existence could possibly lead to varied concerns and ideas. This would then raise a remarkable point whether abortion is part of the woman’s choice. However, such a choice must be backed up with relevant justifications and this is where the point of the proposed blog sets in. Discussion of activity A blog, which is attached in this article, could be a remarkable way to address some problems associated with abortion and the women’s choice to go for it. This blog disregards the associated personal belief about abortion, the issues of violence and illegality. In the following section is the proponent’s reflection on abortion, including some point of views that could be the bases of the course of actions or the kind of choices women should initiate concerning abortion as their personal choice. The proponent chose to use a blog because it is a remarkable opportunity not only to educate everyone, but could show the readers some perspectives that need substantial considerations prior to the actual choices or alternative course of actions concerning abortion and women’s choice to go for it. The creation of this blog relates to class materials because of the following reasons. First, this blogging activity concerns the studies about women particularly on their specific and probable response to some issues. For instance, part of the issues concerning feminism is the idea about single parenting, by which a woman could raise a child by herself, an activity that has been proven by time (Shaw and Lee 31). Women nowadays could eventually do their own way to raise a family with the existence of single parents. However, this activity requires financial considerations. Women who are single parents have to shoulder everything all by themselves and they have to face the need to address health concerns that at some point would require consideration of financial matters in great detail. Second, this blogging activity tries to point out the idea that women need to be given the chance to decide what they might think good for them based on some existing situations. This is a highly political issue because this concept has long been discussed in relation to the idea about feminism. Feminist politics for instance has become a controversial point and so the issue about abortion as a personal choice among women has become a significant component of this concern (Shaw and Lee 34). Third, this blogging activity also deals with the issue of health and poverty which have been part of the women’s life and their actual choice about abortion. This point remarkably considers the above two points, integrating the issues of feminism and feminist politics. Fourth, this blogging activity relates to class materials because the primary subjects are women. In fact, the idea associated with this blogging activity primarily includes the women’s choice particularly on abortion. The choice for abortion is a personal issue which should require women their ultimate freedom to decide for themselves, in the same way how men exercise their freedom to decide on what they think might be good for them. In addition, as already stated, this blogging activity includes the issues of health and poverty, which are concerns by which women need to take their ultimate stand. For this reason, the concept about feminism and its actual application are integrated. Feminism as defined is a movement to end sexism. With this, the women have the ultimate choice to decide among themselves on what should simply be the best for them. To illustrate this point, if abortion would be an ultimate choice in order to ensure achievement of what is best for women particularly on their basic need for health while disregarding the issues of personal bias and legalism, one could therefore assume that women should do the necessary thing. Reflection I learned that this activity is a form of sharing information not just to promote the fact regarding issues on feminism, but the actual actions that one could associate with it. For example, publishing a blog like this that tries to promote women’s welfare might be labeled as a feminist act. However, considering the point that feminism is a way of eradicating the movement associated with sexism, the move I just made could also become a controversial issue for the following reasons. First, there is an inclusion of feminist politics relevant to publishing a blog. The very point is that I am not only making it a point to publish a blog without a purpose, but the entire reason is to inform everyone with some socio-economic issues relevant to a woman’s choice for abortion, which could turn out into a highly political move in the long run. This is due to the point that various interpretations could probably surface out from this move I take. Even though some would argue that real women should have babies (Valenti 151), but the fact could not be changed based on the prevailing situations that women should also have to posses the freedom of choice for abortion as an option. So a blogging activity like this could turn out a highly political controversy in its essence as to be expected. Second, women are subject to cultural change (McRobbie 3). This means there could be relevant issue concerning some changes of woman’s role played in the society, which would include the freedom to go for abortion. Then there is also a great issue associated with the opportunity for women in the economic aspect as based on the history they are mostly discriminated in this field (Dempsey and Forst 188). So for this reason, talking about the economic aspect associated with abortion is crucial information that could be shared especially in a blog. The space that the blog could potentially cover with this information is huge. For this reason, there is a higher chance that women could become focus and detailed subjects that one could highly associate with various economic concerns linked with abortion as relevant topic on a blog. Appendix Abortion should be a woman’s choice (The article on the blog) Prior to the issue of abortion, there are other important concerns that are relevant and associated with it and one should address accordingly. These include inadequate healthcare and poverty in the US. Taking the idea about inadequate healthcare, the US does not only face major problems with this concern but eventually the ultimate future of every American citizen particularly the women. The current problems associated with America’s health care system are relevant to different issues which include the reproductive health care system. With poor health care system, women could not guarantee addressing maximum needs for their reproductive health. A pregnant woman in the first place needs to receive maximum health care in order to ensure optimum health for herself and the baby. However, with health care system that needs more policy developments, a pregnant woman could not guarantee giving a maximum response to her health requirements and her baby. For this reason, it cannot be denied that there are women who would result to abortion as they are eventually looking forward to their future and the baby. It is expensive to get pregnant in the first place and an expectant woman needs to ensure maximum health care support. However, with the prevailing health care system in the US, there would be no assurance that everyone’s needs for a better health care, especially the group of pregnant women. Abortion therefore would not be an impossible option as its bottom line could be due to fear of not being able to sustain the necessary needs of a woman and her child during the entire pregnancy period. Since a woman has the right to ensure of her health optimum health most especially during pregnancy, then the option of achieving maximum health care and not achieving it could be tantamount to her actual choice of making abortion as an alternative course of action. The second point is poverty, an issue less discussed during the presidential debate of the 2012 presidential election. Reality check, poverty is one of the major problems in the US as its economy is still regaining a firm socio-economic stand after the economic downturn. Economic health of the nation is supposed to be one important consideration of every family trying to raise children at a certain number. For this reason, conception has become related with economic health of the nation, as responsible parents should always consider their entire capacity to raise children and ensure they could provide them their basic necessities in life. However, with poor economic health, it would not be impossible that some parents may eventually result to abortion. The above issues are important social problems associated with abortion and the women’s choice to pursue this activity. Women who are trying to face the realities based on the level of their thinking and handling of things may eventually result to the choice of abortion. We have to accept the reality that some women may eventually consider this as the best possible option for them amidst some circumstances and other relevant socio-economic problems. For this reason, the women’s right to ensure their safety and the child’s future should be the ultimate top concern. Thus, considering some various concerns, abortion at some point and certain level should be women’s choice. References Dempsey, John S., and Linda S. Forst. An Introduction to Policing.
