As time passed by, homosexuals too came in the limelight with the issue of getting allowed to marry like the heterosexuals (Gaita, 2007). Marriage among homosexuals always proved challenging, but as people’s view regarding homosexuality cleared, many have started embracing the idea of gay marriages. Homosexuality in the past associated with stigma in society, persecution, discrimation, segregation and even imprisonment in some countries. In the present world, with increased change occurring at the societal and governmental level, homosexual marriage should be allowed. Homosexuals should be granted the opportunity to marry since they are citizens too. There is no place under the constitution that states gays to be second class citizens. In fact, it is clearly stated in the constitution plus the formulated Bill of Rights that all citizens have rights including homosexuals (Craig & Rimmerman, 2009). Hence a chance should be given to gays to hold marriages with their beloved ones. Marriage indicating the union between two people should at no point be interfered by the government or the society as it does not affect them all (Lopez, 2009). Therefore, in denying homosexuals to get marriage indicates discrimination of a country’s citizens (Craig & Rimmerman, 2009). Furthermore, in the Bill of Rights or the constitution, none states disregarding homosexuals to marry. Hence, the government should leave the union of two gay people to themselves instead of denying them. Since time immemorial, gay people have constantly been discriminated by various groups in the society, for example, religious groups. They have always been treated cruelly and some persecuted in some countries. It is recently that they have managed to come out and speak openly regarding homosexuality (Gaita, 2007). In a society where discrimination directed towards a fellow human being is punishable, indicates that homosexuals can do whatever they want without the fear of discrimination (Lopez, 2009). In is terribly cruel to deny homosexuals chance to marry each other and share their love as couples. Furthermore, marriage can be acceptable to homosexuals when they love each other as it provides a solid reason to tie the note (Gaita, 2007). Marriage is hence a fundamental right to all citizens irrespective of one’s sexuality and should be respected at all times. In accordance to the constitution, minority groups like homosexuals are expected to be protected by the government and not to discriminate those (Craig & Rimmerman, 2009). Denying homosexuals, a right to marriage is inhuman. Homosexuals are human beings and require to be treated equally in the society. For thousands of years, homosexuals have constantly been struggling for their rights so as to be treated equally like heterosexuals (Lopez, 2009). It is sad seeing fellow human beings who are homosexuals being insulted, mistreated, imprisoned, or put to death (White, 2008). From a humanistic perspective, one would always wonder if such acts committed to homosexuals depict the human nature in people. Therefore, as the world is changing and many countries have begun to embrace the concept of homosexuality in the society, so does gay marriage allowed (Gaita, 2007). Homosexuals should get married by proving a point that love sometimes can be stronger than words. In as much as people talk and write nasty things about not accepting gay marriages, but when compared to heterosexual marriage where love precedes, then homosexuals too should be left alone (Gaita, 2007). Marriage among homosexuals should not be a discussion of straight people to as they have never felt the love that co exists between two gays. Furthermore, it is unfair to deny two homosexuals in love to marry each other. In such gay marriages, couples often strive to get love plus companionship from each other. In the past, religions practiced much control over marriages, therefore, having much influence on denying gay marriages. However, today, religion holds less control over marriages since some marriages can still be performed outside religious buildings, gay marriage should also be allowed (White, 2008). For many years, gay marriages have been oppressed being performed in churches, but with other options in place, the possibility of gay marriages taking place without interfering with the conflicting views from such religious groups can be avoided (Gaita, 2007). On the other hand, homosexuals should also not marry due to religious reasons. First of all, dating back in time, homosexuality has constantly been condemned by religious denominations like Christianity, Hindu and Islam. In fact, the Holy Christian Bible clearly despises homosexuals (Gaita, 2007). Having a marriage of homosexuals can be a condemnation to some of the religious denominations as it may depict them going against their religion. Since the beginning of time, marriage has always been deeply rooted in religion. Homosexuals should never be granted permission to marry because since the deed remains unnatural. In a normal society, for centuries, men have always been marrying women in order to procreate. The outcome of a marriage often is expected to result to the creation of children (Gaita, 2007). In the case of homosexuals, such unions often do not result to natural creation of children hence termed unnatural by many. In a world where children are required for the continuity of humanity, homosexuality can hence be regarded as a selfless act to hinder procreation (Gaita, 2007). Gay marriages should never be allowed since it will change the given foundation of society. Over many years, heterosexual marriages have always been regarded as a social norm. As homosexuals continue to acquire more rights and get less discriminated, the society can be thrown at a risk of a new society foundation being created, a society that embraces homosexuality (White, 2008). Gay marriages should also not be allowed in the society as it would destroy the moral fabric in the society. Children living in a society where gay marriages exist openly, have a higher chance of embracing homosexuality as part of their lifestyle (White, 2008). In addition, homosexual couples that adapt children deprive them of a female or a male model in their life. Such children grow without viewing or having a perspective of how the other sex lives in marriage thereby developing interaction problems with members from the other sex. In conclusion, homosexual marriages should be allowed in the society due to a number of reasons. Homosexuals are human beings and require to be treated equally. Secondly, the constitution provides the Bill of Rights for every citizen. Thirdly, for centuries, homosexuals have been discriminated and its high time for them to act openly. Furthermore, the gay marriage should be allowed since marriage denotes a depiction of love and affection (Gaita, 2007). In addition, today, marriage is not entirely controlled by religion and hence gay marriages can still be carried out. In as much as other people do not agree on allowing gay marriage due to corrupting the society, introducing moral decay, being religiously unacceptable, not in line with societal norms, and being unnatural, many still believe that gay marriage should be allowed (White, 2008).
