I am opposed to Brady’s message about women having an inferior role in marriage.  At present, both women and men have equal roles in marriages. Women no longer have an inferior role in marriage. Women empowerment is largely seen in societies around the world today.  Several changes have taken place regarding the role of women in marriage since the time that Brady wrote this article.  Harris and Firestone in 1998 stated that “the documented shift away from traditional gender role attitudes among women of different race and ethnic groups in the United States may produce changes in typical gender power dynamics” (479).
