The evidence tallied to the same observation. The world had enough reason to believe the earth was round (Magan pp. 8).
Since then, the shape of the earth was under constant investigation with many scholars drawing endless observations that showed the earth was round indeed. Some of the evidence includes; when two sailors are on the ocean, one in front and another one right behind. The observer standing at the beach starts to see the smoke of the ship of the first sailor and then the other one emerges. If the earth was flat, then the two sailors would have been seen at the same time in their relative position.
If a traveler would be heading southern part of the earth, the group of stars appears to rise higher above the horizon. This could only mean the earth is round. A similar observation was made in that; some stars could be seen when one is at a particular location but disappear when one moves to another location. Read More
