In both universities, international students are allowed to pursue that course and their fees are different, either subsidized or more the normal rates. The academic qualifications are set a certain qualification level and mathematics, and English performances are crucial for the students to enroll for the degree course. The study of business law and ethics, business mathematics, business economic and marketing principles are some of the initial courses to be undertaken in the first year of the study. An industrial attachment is also a requirement for the completion of the degree program, either in LMJU or University of Surrey. The two universities have created a standard learning period of three years, thus showing that the course structure has been arranged to fit that period.

Professional Accreditation

The University business department urges individuals to enroll with the BSc in Accounting and Finance because it is accredited by different bodies, both in the national and international. This means that individuals can work anywhere in the globe, provided that they have been certified from the University. The four main accountancy bodies in Wales and England are the organization that is supporting the degree in the university. These bodies include the Chartered Institute of Management (CIM), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management and Accountancy (CIPFA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). This gives an individual a reason to enroll in the university by visiting the department. These are international accountancy bodies, and one should decide of which body to associate with in the last year in the course selection. The University is dedicated to updating the course to fit the current world and based on the observed developments. The department also states that the students who are competent enough in Accounting and Finance are offered a chance for full Association Accounts Technicians’ membership.

A Module in First Year: Business Law and Ethics

Business law and ethics are one of the modules that must be undertaken by a first year undertaking a course in BSc Accounting and Finance in Liverpool John Moores University. This is a course that is mainly focused on the leadership skills of an individual in the business world. It is a paramount course in the junior semester for the individuals undertaking business and law-related courses in any higher learning institute. Understanding the business law and ethics help employees to bring a positive contribution to the organizational success. A person needs to understand the reconnection between the law and business so that they avoid unethical misconducts in the society while undertaking the course. Several business ethics should be taken into consideration for successive and efficient business activities. The ethics have descriptive and normative descriptions.

The ethics revolve around the relationships between the producer or seller and the customer. Property ownership is highly stressed in this section, providing terms and conditions that consider the possession of properties. An example of a business ethic is that companies should ensure that they produce commodities that are harmless to the users and the society at large. In cases of sales and marketing, the salesmen should make sure that they are genuine to the customers, providing all the information about the product, regardless of whether they are negative or positive(Paliwal, 2006).

Importance of Business Law and Ethics

The ethical lessons help the students understand the relationships between employees or the employer and the employees. Such ethical requirements are highly considered in the times of hiring and firing. For example, it is wrong for an employer to fire an employee based on no reasons. Therefore, the fired worker has the power to file a case against the court to seek justice from the court of law. The defined business ethics determines when an individual can be fired or hired depending on several factors that are highlighted in the business’ constitution. The employees are supposed to conduct according to the requirements of the national and company constitution.

The law and ethics also govern the relationships between the company and the customers. Therefore, the company is dictated on how it should conduct its businesses with the customers to avoid oppression and avoid the presence of unethical activities. Based on several researchers’ findings, I can state that most businesses succeed because of adhering to business ethics and law. This is because the customers will be served perfectly and wish to revisit the business and build a good business-to-customer relationship. Focusing on the business ethics, the investors will create good understanding to their customers and cases misunderstandings will be minimised. The existence of the ethics on business have forced ethical practices in several situations, where the company mistreats the customers in directs or an indirect way. The customers have the right to report cases of mistreatments to the court of law again the company so that justice can prevail(MacIntyre, 2008).

The business ethics documentations helps in determining the bad conducts of the businesses thus defining the legal penalties and problems. Therefore, an individual in the company is informed of the bad traits in the company and the consequences are outlined. This enhances the commitment of the employees and helps them to contribute to the development of the company. For example, it is nit right to come to the workstation at any time; rather there are specified timings for reporting and resuming back home. Lateness and Absence at workplaces without has consequences and they are well-known by the employees. Adhering to the ethics might be much profitable to be a company, leading to faster growth and easier achievements of the set goals and objectives (MacIntyre, 2008). The costs are controlled when the business ethics are followed. For example, the finance that could be used in funding court cases could be used in other profitable areas within the business.

This is a compressed course outline of the business law and ethics. The course has great importance in business, and it is crucial to be considered by the students because it is highly applicable in the contemporary society. It helps the accounts and finance students to be mentored by the future leader and business people who understand the legal and ethical perspectives of business. It also shows the students how the organisations can increase the chances of success by reducing the legal risk (Paliwal, 2006).

Conclusion

This project study has helped me understand the academic qualifications for an individual to enrol in a degree program in BSc Accounting and Finance have also highlighted the professional connection between the business department, specifically on accounting and finance with the accountancy bodies like CIM. Also, I have understood the course contents and among them, I have understood the importance of business law and ethics and it connection to the success of organisations.
