The paper "The Business and Financial Performance of AirAsia Organisation Over" is an exceptional example of a research paper on finance and accounting. Analyzing the financial performance of a company is important in determining the overall financial health of that particular company over a given period of time. Primarily, it assesses how well a firm can use its assets to generate revenues by assessing the leverage, profitability, operational efficiency, and solvency of a company (Atrill & McLaney, 2007). With these facts, financial performance is an important area of accounting that carries significant value in the current competitive business world. Analysis and business performance of a company today is a significant area in the modern-day accounting profession hence after reading all the diversified research topics, I will do my research on topic number 8, ‘The business and financial performance of an organization over a three-year period.’ The case study for my research project will be AirAsia which is a Malaysian-based low-cost airline. The research will evaluate the financial performance of the company using various financial ratios over the three-year period thus from November 2008 to November 2011 and compare it with one Competitor Company Malaysia Airline to determine the financial stability of the company.

1.2. Reasons for Choosing the Topic

As discussed in my introductory part, the financial performance of a company is one of the significant areas in the accounting field as well as in the practical competitive business environment. Companies publish their financial performance reports after a given period of time and this task requires a professional accountant who has outstanding analytical as well as business skills to effectively perform it (Brigham & Ehrhardt, 2010). Choosing topic number eight will help me develop my business and analytical skills by applying theoretical knowledge learned in class into a practical scenario. Additionally, financial performance involves interpretation as well as analysis of various financial information and statements. This research topic will not only help me develop my financial interpretation skills but will also help me understand the corporate and economic environment.
