In cyber world, you are always finding yourself ready to click and open the windows for more new and inspirational clicks. (Image Source: Online) Tim O’Reilly defines it, as a platform but without any boundary, and creates a gravitational pull and can understand Web 2.0 as certain sites tied together with principles and practices but at a certain distance just like a solar system. (O’Reilly, 2005) Web 2.0 is all about interacting with the world with just a click of a mouse. It has made your work far more easy and convenient. It is found everywhere in fact you can feel the impact of it in every niche and crevasse of society. Adopting the various Web 2.0 tools like Wikis, blogs, mashups and social networking sites enable you to harness fruitful gains in every sphere of your work areas like, sales, marketing, communications, research and development and human resources etc. Various companies are too making the economic complexities of the offline world into the real and easy online world to turn the Web 2.0 engines to make millions. The word spam strikes at our nerves like a cord, we are all afraid. But the question raised is: what is Spam and why should we afraid of the spam? But before answering this, there is a need to understand first what is spam? All of us find our email boxes full of unsolicited and uninvited mails that many times may fill up your storage space. These mails are more of advertisement letters inviting you to read their mails and act upon. In technical terms, these ads are called as unsolicited commercial emails (UCEs). These mails could come from anywhere or any department and are of two types: Cancellable Usenet spam and Email spam. Cancellable Usenet spam is a single message sent to 20 or more Usenet newsgroups, makes them loose the utility of newsgroups loading them with unnecessary posts whereas Email spam makes the individual users their target by sending them direct mail messages. Then in mid 1990, one of the unsolicited email got her the name spam and it was solely because of the resemblance created between the way SPAM, which is a lunchmeat, taken by a restaurant customer in a 1970 Monty Python skit. In a comedy skit, waitress offered large number of Spams repeatedly to the customer as her duty towards every customer’s entry into the restaurant even though customer did not want it. It has brought the world at our doorsteps through websites providing platform for us to develop network of friends and business partners. When we form groups of likeminded people and socialize with them through websites, we develop social networks. (Satterfield, 2006) These social websites form online community of net users and the members of the community share common interests like their hobbies, religious thoughts, politics, sports or movies. Registration to these websites gives us access to the other member’s profile and many websites also give us privilege to contact them. There are many websites directed at the one main issue or interest inviting only like-minded people whereas others also known as traditional social networking websites have open memberships for every one. People form groups sharing common interests, while other members are ignored. You can also use social networking as a place to promote your website, enhance your business and spread a word or two about you among millions of people world wide. But certain precautions needed to be taken before forging into any alliance or making friends. You have to be cautious, as there are predators always ready to create nuisance and would never divulge their real identity. Especially women have to remain extra cautious as the unscrupulous elements can cause emotional, psychological and many other harms. It has become a part of our culture and has entered into every sphere of our life; from television to VCD, DVD, CD ROM, movies, animations, magazines are all part of multimedia enigma. Multimedia used for education purposes is very useful and very effective means to increase the interest and knowledge.
