Interest in the Field of Accounting - Personal Statement Example

Coming from an educational background that revolves around accounting and finance, makes me well suited for applying to M.Sc in this field. I studied at the Beijing Institute of Technology for two years and then a further two years at Bangor University with a major in Accounting and Finance. Accountants work with financial professionals from four areas; i.e public, management, internal auditing, and government accounting.  Analysis of financial data and annual reports preparation is another important aspect of their jobs. These attributes make accountants very significant to any organization.  I assume that since I have a background in accounting and finance, I have the basic and preliminary knowledge that is required to enter a program that deals with these subjects. My strong interest and desire to learn further can give me extra benefits when I enter the degree. Not only my educational background supports my aspiration to become an accountant but a 3-month training at a local bank in the summer holidays allowed me to have a deeper insight into the responsibilities and attributes of an accountant. I strongly believe that apart from education and training, being patient, being careful with the work, and being honest are all required for being a successful accountant.

My desire to become an accountant has been fueled not only by my interest in this field but also because of the professional competence of this field in itself. Accountancy is a field that plays a central role in the business activities of international society and so plays a vital role in the process of economic globalization. I have always wanted to be a part of this system and contribute to the development of my country, because it is a known fact that, the backbone of all economic systems in each country rests on the shoulders of accountants and financial experts who are responsible for a fluent flow of financial resources. Apart from the macro-economic importance of accountancy, a more localized approach to it is that no company can run without accountants and a professional in accountancy means a respectable job with an increasingly steady career path. 

This is an era of technology and computers; no data can be analyzed, no calculations can be made and no financial reports can be done if an accountant lacks basic computer skills. I have good training in this regard as well, and I am very well equipped with all the computer skills that an accountant must be acquainted with. This will not only aid me in the course work but will also help me in making myself a competent financial expert. I will be able to grasp the newly introduced concepts with confidence and conviction.

I believe that along with academic activities, there should also be room for some physical exercise which I seek through my favorite sport Basketball. I love to spend my extra time playing basketball as well as having an interest in other sports activities.  I have been playing basketball with my high school team and so would love to be a part of the basketball team of your school if I succeed in getting admission.

I have heard about the fame of your school and your reputation in accounting-related circles is such that it has become my dream to get an opportunity to study here. Keeping my family, educational and technical background in mind I would like to stress that I'm extremely suitable for admission to your institution as your institute is an opportunity that could take my career in the direction in which I aspire to be in a few years from now and this would not only quench my thirst of knowledge in this field but also polish my existing skills. I have always been an optimistic person which makes me believe that you would consider my application for this admission as I’m very eager to be a part of your school shortly.
