Personal Statement - Admission/Application Essay Example

Accounting is a significant subject to planners as they prioritize the needs and in their efforts to make vital choices. It is the responsibility of countries, organizations, groups, and individuals to plan wisely for proper management of their financial deficits. Accounting is an ever-evolving field marked by technological advancements that have seen the outdating of previously used knowledge. Being a complex and a diverse discipline, accounting has fascinated me and instigated my critical and creative thinking since my childhood.

Further, inspiration from my stepfather, a successful manager of a large-scale logistics company, and Jim Mammone, the SVP of INTL Commodities Inc. plays a big role as well. It is from the inspiration that my immense willingness to pursue a major in accounting at the University of California was instigated. My character is unique. Although this could be strange to say, my interest in accounting started unknowingly when I bought and later sold 60 shares and made a realizable profit. This definitely introduced me to the stock market, giving me an overview of how it worked.

For an accountant, honesty is a crucial quality, which has been part of me since my young age. Further, I am sensitive, caring, and compassionate. These qualities were evident when I successfully explored the fundamentals of accounting work as an intern at my father’s company. . I wish to be successful in business. Therefore, the present inflation rate that has led to high levels of unemployment consequently lowering living standards eventually affecting the countries economy must be addressed.

This problem needs to be addressed from a financial and economic perspective. There are three essential attributed for one to excel in the field of accounting. Logic, attention to details, and analytical skill are crucial and certainly, I possess the three. When I couple these with the drive, my ambition, and the capability to communicate effectively at all levels, I believe that I am a quarter of the way to possessing everything required of an accountant. It is hard to possess all the requirements towards career goal.

From this understanding, I am ready to learn and develop all the attributes I do not have necessary for an accountant. I have excelled in several fields. One of the fields I have achieved notably is music. I believe it is from its methodical nature, a common feature in accounting that my accountancy motivation is instigated. Music has positively contributed to my development as a well-rounded individual. I am a more outgoing and creative individual because of my involvement in music activities over the years.

I wish to use the creativity I have developed in music in my future accounting career. I also believe that the skills and knowledge I have gained will contribute to my success in academic and professional endeavours. I also intend to continue exploring many different musical interests and building relationships based upon them at the University of California.
