ABSTRACT

The research undertaken to identify the impact of the integration of the Kuwait Stock Market with Global Financial Markets in terms of benefits and advantages was underpinned and examined through primary and secondary research. The researcher formulated the research aim and objectives along with designing a robust and logical research methodology that helped in collecting relevant data and information. Primary data have been collected through questionnaires and focus group interviews while secondary data and information were collected from past research papers and academic books and journals. On the basis of secondary information, the researcher found that global market integration helps in sharing risks and opportunities along with enhancing the overall appeal and reach of a nation.

However, primary data and information highlighted that majority of respondents believe that global market integration should only be thought of when there are a number of visible advantages and benefits. Kuwait has been known for its strong financial liquidity which often helped in creating economic development. The majority of respondents also believe that global market integration within GCC nations will help Kuwait to identify the overall benefits and disadvantages of global market integration. On the basis of primary and secondary data analysis, the researcher found that Kuwait has been an orthodox country in terms of taking financial measures. It allowed foreign ownership in the stock market in the last few years along with introducing Capital Market Authorities regulating financial institutions. For an economy that has been doing well by putting strong financial performances, it will be better to integrate with neighboring countries having similar economic and social environments in order to assess and examine the impact, influence, benefits, and disadvantages of market integration rather than exploring global boundaries.
