Further the complexity of globalization and the means by which it impacts upon even a poor worker within Central America is another identifiable motivation that the author experienced. The intended audience for this text is individuals that live in North America or elsewhere in the developed world that are interested in finding out how the distribution networks and growth of globalization impact poorer populations from around the globe. The book was impactful in the sense that it forced me to think about aspects of the global economy that I may not have ever thought about before.

Rather than merely buying a product at the store and accepting it at face value, I came to consider where it originated and who might have been involved in producing its requisite parts. The author delivers the thesis through a combined approach. Firstly and most importantly, the author relates the information in a narrative tone; however, this is backed up with exposition as an array of color photographs that detail the processes that she describes are provided to the reader. In terms of evaluating the text, it is the view of this student that the accuracy of the text is exceptional.

Naturally, it is not possible to make a value judgment on accuracy without performing secondary research on the topic. After this was completed, it became clear that the author not only has a passion for the subject matter, something that helps to promote the interest of the reader, but also a profound level of informed knowledge with regard to the way that the entire process takes place. Further, in terms of the objectivity of the text is somewhat in question; due in part to the fact that the author has had such a vested interest in the plight of the people in question – and likely views the situation from only one particular point of view.
