The Right To Fashion Among Individuals My proposal argues about the right to fashion among individuals and explains clearly how the same is a manner of expression and thus one should have enough leverage to express themselves as they want to, especially if the same is through clothing. I have talked about the history of fashion and when the same was considered to be creativity and how even today, in many parts of the world fasion is creation. However, in many communities around the world this right to express oneself through clothing is condemned because it ‘attracts male attention’ when women dress well. This kind of mentality needs to be altered and people need to understand that the art of expressing oneself deserves as much freedome as any other manner os expressing oneself, may it be through speech or otherwise. I have thus made proposals regarding spreading awareness, conducting slut walks in communities that are backward, and spreading information regarding the right of fashion through social media like social networking websites as well as newspapers and magazines. The youth today will comply with these proposals because they are going through this issue of not being able to express themselves through their clothing, and thus I am sure of succeeding in my endeavour. Assignment Fashion is the make or form of something; the prevailing style (in dressing) during a period of time; or a particular garment dressed in a particular way. Every individual has a certain right to dress himself or herself the way he or she wants to. Fashion is something that has developed with time and seasons; it is a very creative concept prevalent in everyone’s lives. However, only few people make use of it. Some might think fashion is expensive and to dress themselves like people on the runways costs a great deal; however, that notion is not completely true, and it is anything that makes a person look good and feel good, that is fashion. This paper is a reflection of how fashion has changed over the years, developed and grown into better clothing, more appealing, and how the same also has a philosophy behind it. The proposal of right to fashion is one of the main criteria for covering this paper, and this paper thus speaks about how this right is a fundamental available to all human beings for their perusal. The philosophy of fashion speaks about how style is different from fashion wearing clothes means helping to give one’s body a sense of appearance that helps to define ourselves. Most people can understand what kind of a person one is just by the clothes he or she wears. Having an eye for detail or for fashionable clothing helps to up a person’s level of physical appearance in the eyes of both her/himself, and in the eyes of other people around him (Windermere). Not being able to reveal fashion through personal senses, or not being able to dress oneself in the kind of clothing one wants to is equivalent to the same feeling of having one’s body chained and not being able to do anything about it. Fashion is like freedom and liberation from the monotonous lives that most people live in the world today. It helps to bring about change and colour in a person’s outlook towards life. It helps a person to feel light and also helps to alter his or her mood. This was fashion – dressing oneself as one wanted to and trying to bring about a sort of look and appearance in the clothing of a person. This same activity and process was carried out in different parts o the world with respect to different kinds of clothing that were born from the creativity and uniqueness that different people had. Today, they are known as designers; however, in those days, they were known as the harbingers of freedom and creativity. Fashion is restricted now though, in many parts of the world and women are not given their due right to dress as they please. In many communities, men who may be gay, are also looked down upon when they try to express themselves through their clothing. This mindset needs to be changed because a section of people cannot arbitrarily decide how an individual should dress. Not many women earlier were given the chance to wear clothing the way they wanted to. In many cultures of the world, women were not allowed to wear clothing that enhanced their features; many religions around the world as well restrict the kind of fashion a woman can wear so as to not look tantalizing enough to attract male attention. However, this is a wrong restriction on the freedom that a person may have in the field of fashion. Each and every person has the right to wear whatever it is that they want to, without being bound by the shackles of society. I thus propose hosting rallies regarding the right to give people the freedom of whatever they want to wear. Women should have the liberty to dress themselves as they want and not be bound by their religion or any other restriction from others. Slut walks have been held all over the world trying to spread awareness and let people understand the right of women to wear whatever they want. I propose making presentations in communities and helping people understand the various rights that they have regarding their freedom to express themselves. In many communities women are condemned from looking beautiful because they may attract unwanted male attention, however people need to understand that it is the male mind that should control itself rather than stopping a woman from expressing herself clearly and as she wants to. However, people should also be educated about what is obscene and what may be considered to be fashionable. I propose ways to try and broaden people’s minds by spreading awareness through the internet and social media like newspapers and magazines as well as pamhplets and flyers to allow women to be free and in conservative communities, let men know that just because a woman dresses well does not mean it gives them the right to do as they please. At the same time, fashion is for people who are not able to style themselves on a personal level; it is for people who need to follow others that set trends in order to understand what liberation with respect to clothing may mean. Fashion is thus a right or an outlet for a person to vent his or her own feelings and should not be forbidden to anyone. Therefore, people should have the option of choosing what they want to wear and how they want to dress themselves because after all it falls under their right to freedom of speech and expression. Dressing is an art and a manner of expression of one’s thoughts and feelings; high end fashion designers are inspired by life; thus, placing a restriction on someone’s clothing is all about perspective – something that should be broadened or otherwise not lead to tampering with someone else’s perception of life (“Right to wear..”).
