? 3 Parts- Population Mexico Mexico is a rapidly developing nation of the world with considerable economic growth in the recent years. It is located in the southern part of the continent of North America. Owing to its vast population, the country is recognised as the eleventh most densely inhabited nation of the world. Mexico is primarily a middle-income nation and its economy is predominately linked with the economy of the United States of America. The country has shown rigorous improvement in its economic performance in the recent years. Furthermore the country is rich in mineral resources and other natural resources (The World Bank, 2013). Population Growth Rate of Mexico Mexico is one of the densely populated countries in the world. The population of the country has shown an increasing trend in the past years. From 1930 to 2000 the percentage population rise of the country was around 3.75%. However, since 1970 the population growth rate of the country is falling constantly. The fall in the population growth rate has been widely attributed to the declining fertility within the country. .. Figure: 1 below will provide a clear representation of the s (Tuiran, Partida, Mojarro & Zuniga, n.d.). Figure 1: Population Growth Pattern of Mexico (Tuiran, Partida, Mojarro & Zuniga, n.d.) Various survey results showed that the population of Mexico had been tripled since the year 1960’s. However, the population growth rate of the country in the recent years i.e. in between 2000 to 2012 is comparatively low to previous decade. The population growth rate in between 2000 is 1.4% which is quite lower in comparison to last two decades. The population augmentation rate of the last 10 years of Mexico is given below in figure 2 (Trading Economics, n.d.). Figure 2: Population Growth Rate (Trading Economics, n.d.) Despite the fall in the population growth rate, constant increase in population can be seen. The population of the country was around 101.02 million which has increased to 116.9 million in the current year (2013). This shows that the population of Mexico is continued to rise considerably over the years. The rise in the population of the country is illustrated below in the figure: 3. Figure 3: Comparative Population Growth of the Last Ten Years (Trading Economics, 2013) It is known that rise or fall in growth of population is directly dependent on various factors which comprise of death rate, birth rate, fertility rate, and infant mortality and migration patterns among others. In general decrease in death rate and increase in birth rate is among the primary reason for the rapid growth of population in various countries of the world. Apart from rise in population is also quite related to migration patterns. Now-a-days, people travel from one place to another in search of their livelihood and gets settle to other country resulting in rise in population of that country. Similarly, fertility and infant mortality rate has high impacts on the rise and the fall of population of a country (Dettman, 2007). It has been analysed that the death rate of Mexico in the recent years has dropped considerably. Correspondingly, the death rate in the country was around 5.05 per thousand of the population in the year 2000 while in 2012 the rate seen a marginal decline with 4.9 per thousand of the population. This has been illustrated below in figure 4. Figure 4: Death Rate (Index Mundi, n.d.) Similarly, the birth rate of the country also shows a declining rate over the years. It has been observed that the birth rate of the country in the year 2000 was approximately 23.1 per thousand populations which have fallen to 18.8 per thousand populations in the year 2012. It can be observed that both the death rate as well as the birth rate shows decline from the past years. Figure 5: Birth Rate (Index Mundi, n.d.) Apart from these factors, it has also been learnt that infant mortality rate in Mexico is declining up to a larger extent. In 2000, the infant mortality rate of Mexico was recorded as 26.1 per thousand live births which fall to 16.7 per thousand live births in 2012. This aspect has large influence on the steady growth in the overall population of the country. Furthermore, the total fertility rate of Mexico is seen to be declining in the recent years in the comparison last few years. This depicts that the average number of children born per women is diminishing considerably in the recent years. However, it has been learnt that the net migration rate of Mexico in the recent years has been showing a rising trend. In this context it has been ascertained that large population of the country are migrating to the nearby countries like USA. Thus, it can be postulated that the migration factor has also crucially influenced that changing pattern of population in the country. These aspects will be broadly depicted in figure: 5, 6 and 7. Figure 5: Infant Mortality (Index Mundi, n.d.) Figure 6: Net Migration Rate (Index Mundi, n.d.) Figure 7: Total Fertility Rate (Index Mundi, n.d.) From the overall analysis it has been learnt that there are several factors that have direct influence on population size of a country. On this context, death rate, birth rate and infant mortality rates are among the primary influential factors. In this regard, it has been noted that despite the fall in the population growth rate, the population of Mexico is showing a favourable rise. Population Growth trend in Counties of Florida There are more than 60 counties in the state of Florida out of which some of those has shown fluctuating trend of population growth rate in recent times. Among them Alachua County, Baker County, Bay County and Bradford County would be vital to have a discussion upon. Alachua is situated in the north central part of Florida with an estimated population of around 249,365 till the year 2011. It has been noted that the population growth of the county since the year 2000 is around 13.4% which is quite high (World Media Group, 2013). Similarly, Baker County has also revealed certain ups and downs in its population growth over the years. With the estimated population of around 27,154 it is among the smallest counties of the state. It has recorded a population growth rate of around 21.82 % from the year 2000 to 2011 which is above the average growth rate (World Media Group, 2013). Furthermore, the estimated population of Bay County is 169,856 with a population growth of 13.9% since the year 2000. Apart from this, Bradford County has an estimated population of 28,255 with a population growth rate of 9.3% since the year 2000 (State of Florida, 2013; World Media Group, 2013; World Media Group, 2013). It can be seen from the above discussion that all the four counties have shown an increasing trend in its population growth pattern from the year 2000. However, their growth rate varies significantly which depicts that that they have different birth and death rate. The population growth rates of all the four counties are different owing to the fact that there is a difference in the status of the various factors that led to population rise. It has been observed that the death rate of Alachua County was 7 per 1000 people for the year 2012 and the birth rate of the county was recorded as 12.2 per1000 population for the same year. These aspects further represent that the birth rate in the county is more than the death rate which ultimately results in 13.4% increase in the population of the county (World Media Group, 2013; World Media Group, 2013; Pubrecords, 2012). Subsequently, the birth rate of Baker County is recorded as 15.5per1000 population and a death rate of 7.7per thousand people respectively for the year 2012. Owing to this considerable decrease in death rate and increase in birth rate, it experiences substantial rise of 21.82% in its population which is comparatively largest among the four counties mentioned in the discussion (Pubrecords, 2012). Furthermore, the birth rate of Bay County is recorded as 14.2 per 1000 people while its death rate is 9.2 per 1000 person for the year 2012. Owing to the difference between the birth rate and the death rate, the rise in population of the county is quite large. Additionally, it has been noted that the birth rate of Bradford County is 11.7per1000 people while its death rate is recorded as 9.4per1000 people for the year 2012. Owing to this marginal difference in the birth rate and the death rate of the county, it has a stable rise in its growth of population (Pubrecords, 2012). From the above analysis, it can be noted that all the four counties have different birth rate as well as death rate recorded for the period of 2012. Owing to this aspect, there is a large difference between the population growth percentages for all the four counties i.e. Alachua County, Baker County, Bay County and Bradford County.
