Stress at a place of work is a complex psychological metaphor that needs proper conceptualization, but for that, it is required to know the parent construct behind it - stress. There is no proper definition of shift work, but it generally implies work that is scheduled outside the usual daytime office hours where there may be the process of handover of duty of one person or a workgroup to another.

In this process of work one worker usually replaces another on the same work within a time period of 24 hours.
