The role played by media in today’s global scenario is very crucial. The major means of communication and interaction have occupied the entire world. It is said that media plays a very important role in educating, enlightening and entertaining the huge mass. As far as the role of entertainment is concerned, basically, movies, music and video games are important. Along with the growing popularity of music and cinema, video games also are now in focus as far as entertainment is concerned. We generally observe many children; adults, who are so much obsessed with video games.

Unlike music and media, video games are enjoyed by an interactive method. Here the person is an active member of the play. He controls the character. The number of people who play video games is increasing day by day. Video games are definitely a very unique form of entertainment. It is because unlike the movies in video games the player is also part of the game’s script and he is not just a passive watcher just as he has to be in movies. While observing the fantastic world of video games, the researcher observed that video games are becoming more and more violent and sexual.

When the researcher observed deeply it was found that the image of the women in video games is very negative. The women in video games are portrayed in a very unrealistic manner. The female characters are far more than the real world. They are shown as a sex model. Taking into consideration the research was conducted.A recent UNESCO report describes the litany of common images of women in the media: “the glamorous sex kitten, the sainted mother, and the devious witch, the hard-faced corporate and political climber.

” The report, released in 2009, states that, at the current rate of progress on stereotyping women, it will take another 75 years to achieve gender equality in the media. (World Savvy)Generally, when video games are concerned, it is the perception that the video games have been played by the men and women are least interested in playing video games.
