Extract of sample "Orbital Energy and Escape Velocity"

According to the 2nd Law framed by Kepler, the energy contained in any celestial body involved in an orbital spin could be considered as the sum of Kinetic Energy and Gravitational Potential Energy.  Kinetic energy = 1 / 2 mv2 and Potential Energy = - Gm m / rWhere m = momentum of the heavenly body.V = velocity of the orbiting energy.R = Distance of the celestial body from the object around which it rotates. Hence, the formula for the orbital energy contained in any orbiting body isEnergy = 1 / 2 mv2 - Gm m / r.

The elements on earth are glued to their surface because of the inherent gravitational pull of the planet. This pull is so intense that it is almost impossible for any object to move out of the earth's atmosphere unless it does it with a great speed or rather a great velocity.

The Issues of Gravity's Grasp

Consequently, if one of the two bodies locked in a gravitational balancer were to escape the orbit, a number of factors would have to come into play to determine the escape velocity.... The reason behind this is the fact that the necessary escape velocity has to be fast enough to pull one of these objects from the orbit against the pull of gravity.... According to Schultz (2003), the two major factors that affect the necessary escape velocity are is the mass of the planet or sun in kilograms (kg), and the separation distance between the center of the mass of the sun or the planet and the center of the object....
