The paper "Does Recycling Help the Environment or It Is a Waste of Time and Money?" is a worthy example of a research paper on human resources. Recycling can be considered as an important aspect in environmental studies. UAE can be considered as one of the economic superpowers within the world. But, the country generally faces a shortage of natural water issue due to lack of water resources. This essay will argue whether recycling can help the country to maintain environmental sustainability or it will waste money and affect the economic sustainability of the country.

It is an important topic as several organizations in the UAE are considering recycling as the major solution of the water crisis. Research Question Does Recycling help the environment or it is a waste of time and money? General Background Waste reduction and recycling in UAE have become one of the hot topics in the field of environmental studies. Some researchers have stated that it is environment-friendly. On the other hand, several researchers think that it is a waste of time and money. Before going into the comments, it is important for readers to understand both sides of this topic.

It is true that recycling and waste reduction is environment-friendly. Increase in greenhouse gas emission can be considered as one of the major environmental issues in UAE as the country is experiencing aggressive industrialization. Therefore, it is highly important for organizations to focus on waste reduction and recycling. Recycle of 10 tons of aluminium waste can reduce a significant amount of greenhouse gas emission (EPA, 2011). This activity can preserve near about 1 acre of the forest from the deforestation.

Moreover, recycling of 10 tons of plastic can also save a significant percentage of greenhouse gas emission. In this activity, the reduced emission equals to emission due to three cars in a single year (Eco School UAE, 2012). Apart from all these things, recycling and waste reduction also help to save energy, the need for raw materials. Recycling also helps the environment of UAE to decrease in the number of waste materials that put into the landfills. These aspects help UAE to maintain environmental sustainability through a decrease in the percentage of environment pollution.

According to some researchers, there are some drawbacks too. It is known to all that recycling and waste reduction process is highly costly and time-consuming. Though recycling can be considered as an effective process to maintain environmental sustainability, the same time it is time and cost consuming process. It is true that the recycling process requires a huge amount of energy that affects the storage of natural power resources. Near about 4100 KW hours of electricity is required to recycle waste and polluted water (BCUA, 2014).

If the organization in UAE continues with the recycling of water and other wastes, then one day the country will suffer from a shortage of energy resources. Oil mining and industrialization are the major aspects of the economic growth of the country. The GCC countries are responsible for 25 per cent of global oil suppliers. Near about 17 million barrels of oil per day are sourced from these places (Horner, 2010). The recycling process can hamper the storage of natural power resources. One day, these activities may be able to hamper the economic growth of the UAE if the GCC countries suffer from limited storage of natural power resources.

UAE is the second-largest country in the world that adopts and implements cutting-edge technology in order to develop recycling light bulb. The concept of recycling LED light bulb is quite expensive as the required vending machines from the recycling process are outsourced from UK (Eco-generation, 2010). This process increases operational cost and time. Looking into the above-mentioned aspects, it can be stated that recycling has both advantages and drawbacks. First of all, it helps UAE to maintain environmental suitability as the country has limited resources of natural water.

On the other hand, it increases the business operation cost of an organization as the outsourcing and installation process of the recycling vending machines are highly expensive comparing to the sourcing of natural resources. In addition to this, recycling can become responsible for the shortage of natural power resources as recycling requires a huge amount of energy resources. Comments According to the above-mentioned aspects regarding the topic, it is clear that recycling has both advantages and disadvantages.

Keeping all the things in mind, it can be concluded that recycling should be continued as water is the sources of life. Shortage of water can create a serious problem in the near future if the organizations stop this process. In terms of economic drawbacks of recycling, the organizations should find out some solutions to mitigate those economic challenges. This research will convince the readers about the advantages and continuation of recycling in UAE as this recycling can help to maintain the environmental sustainability.

Environmental pollution and shortage of water are the major issues in the UAE. Therefore, each and every individual in the UAE should be concerned about the sustainability of the environment that can be enhanced through recycling.
