China’s struggle for environment protection and related issues: How to protect seawater, grassland and forest for animal protection In the recent years, China has been subjected to very high standards of emissions from industrial pollutants. This is because of the heavy polluting industries that are located in the country. Based on the presence of all these industries, China is regarded as one of the major countries that experiences environmental pollution at a higher rate worldwide. It is the harmful emissions of wasteful products like sulphur dioxide that diminishes the serenity of the environment as well as the living organisms in the ecosystem (Edmond 34). With high rates of industrial pollution and the degradation of the forests and the grassland region, it has become quite difficult for marine creatures and other animals on land to fight for survival. As an alarming concern with regards to conservation of the environment, the Chinese Central authorities are trying to establish a strong basis in which the environmental regulators in the country will be able to implement measures that will guarantee the protection of the environment. However, it is well noted that the effort of the environmental regulators in protecting the environment will definitely sabotage the industrial activities as well as employment. It is based on this claim that the Chinese central authorities have not yet found it fit to equip the environmental regulators with the legal rights to implement their measures and laws. Politics has also made this step to be quite difficult as there are many conflicting parties, which want to address the issue of environmental conservation differently. It is through the conservation of nature that animal protection can be guaranteed. Therefore, China is focussing more on protecting the environment especially concerning the habitats occupied by different animal species. A recent research study conducted by some of the environmental regulators in China indicated that the conservation of the ecosystem as well as the animal species within the ecosystem would assist in maintaining the natural imbalances, which have been affected by numerous human activities (Shapiro 42). There has also been a rapid decrease in the number of animals in China. This is based on a conservation study that was conducted on animal extinction. Humans have attributed the decline to the destruction and persecution of their habitats. For instance, most industrial waste products are released into freshwater bodies causing the water to be filled with impurities leading to death of most of the sea creatures. Deforestation is also major concerns in China as majority of the forests are under destruction thus proving to be unfit for animal survival (Edmonds 51). Luckily, the Chinese government is on a mission to ensure that the laws and policies that have been set for nature conservation and animal protection are effectively implemented. Regardless of the laws and policies that have put in place by the Chinese central government, conservation analysts are still probing on ways of how China can protect the seawater, grassland and the forests for the protection of animals. Since China is one of the fastest developing countries that have a long coastline, there is a lot of importance that is geared at marine development. To bring out the essence of marine development and protection of the sea creatures more strategies should be established by the Chinese government as well as environmental conservations groups in the country. Additionally, improvement of the marine related laws, as well as developing technology and education that is related to the seawater can adequately assists in the protection of marine life. It is also important that regulations should be created regarding the emission of waste products from industries. China has a large base of industrial activities most of which are located near water bodies hence disposal sites should be put in place in that the waste emissions from the industries do not get into the seawaters. Planning and control for the conservation of water bodies in China will assist it to be able to protect and support the survival of animal species. Land degradation is a critical challenge that China is facing now. This challenge has gravely affected grasslands, forests, and environmental analyst fear for the worst-case scenario that may force China to experience desertification (Shapiro 56). Key laws have been set in place by the Chinese government in order to enable it to protect grassland areas, which are being over used by pastoralists. However, despite the regulations, there is little impact that the laws have indicated in trying to salvage the situation. It is difficult to try to balance economic instability with the regulations of conserving the environment. This is a major concern because for the pastoralists, the grasslands are the major source of food for their animals. It is understood that if this is the trend where by the grasslands is constantly being used then in no time China might face a major land degradation challenge. As a result, the habitats of animal species will be no more forcing the animals to migrate or become extinct. To be able to address the issue of grassland degradation, future reforms in China should focus more on how best the China’s grassland land can be effectively implemented with no further delay or interruptions. Pastoralism is known to be the key form of economic activity in China’s rangelands and it is the major cause of grassland degradation because of overstocking (Shapiro 88). To curb this menace, pastoralists should first take up the initiative of preventing overstocking and coming up with strategies to ensure that the grasslands increase regardless of their pastoralists’ activities. It is only through such initiatives that animal protection will be guaranteed in China. With the destruction of grasslands, animals would not have feeds and neither will some of them have a habitat. Based on this, the concept of animal protection will simply be neglected. To protect the grasslands, strict penalties should be imposed on the already existing China’s grassland law that would ensure that the pastoralists abide to the laws. Education is a key aspect when it comes to creating awareness about a given situation. Therefore, it is important that the Chinese people are educated regarding the importance of conserving grasslands and forests for the protection of animals. Animals are a tourist’s attraction and as a result, they tend to increase the economy of a country. Based on this, China is focussing on maintaining the increase of the animals in the country especially those that are a tourist attraction. Forests are of major importance because they protect the quality of water by removing the impurities as well as preventing soil erosion and absorbing the flooded water collected during rainy seasons (Edmonds 63). Research has indicated that China mainly depends on their forests as 40 % of the herbs used by herbalists are found from there. Northwest Yunnan is among the biggest forests in China that is known for this function. Research studies indicate that in China the destruction of forests has become a major concern in the society as the forests are now struggling under the pressure imposed by animal poaching, heavy wood collection and loss of habitat because of increased poverty and burgeoning development. Strategies have been set up by conservatives in China to try and prevent the challenges faced by forests particularly with regards to animal protection but as it is at present the conservatives in China are still trying to implement the measures that have been created. It is through community-oriented initiatives that China will be able to face its struggles of protecting the animals from destruction.
