Introduction Air pollution is so pervasive these days in the modern world. The people are starting to view it as a significant issue that needs primary concern as air pollution progresses and even surges in its capacity to promote environmental destructions (Chiras, 2009, p. 16). This is due to the fact that modernisation brings forward the opportunity for the humanity to discover something new and even at the expense of the environment. As economic consideration has become a major concern of each country, there are many things which are compromised in the environment including the ability to maintain clean air. For instance, the discovery of vehicles paves the way for environmental pollution particularly on the quality of air. In addition, the problem about air pollution is getting worst. For instance, as there are many factories instituted that are producing large volume of combined smoke and fog into the atmosphere, the air is significantly reduced to terrible quality. Not only that, the emission of harmful chemicals and even green house gases continue to dominate into the atmosphere which substantially have been pointed out as potential reasons of the global warming issue. There are many things therefore that need to be learned about air pollution and it is important to consider each of them in order to understand the appropriate things to be done in order to alleviate and totally eradicate them. Air pollution therefore is not just an ordinary issue or problem. Humans for instance primarily rely on oxygen from the air, but they need to take a clean and substantial amount of it. Thus, this is the reason why it is important to have air which must be free from significant level of pollution. In this paper, the proponent tries to consider a critical evaluation on air pollution and its possible effects including some of their particular solutions in order to potentially alleviate or eliminate it. Air pollution and its effects Just like any other forms of environmental problems, air pollution has significant effects. There are potentially two major effects of air pollution. The first is about personal effect which means direct impact on humans and the second one is the direct consequence to the environment (Colls, 2002, p. 388; Mallette, 2007). Under personal effects, one of them pertains to the human health. Unclean air seems to be one of the reasons why there are many people experiencing from poor health conditions including those that are relevant to human respiratory concerns. The body needs to have clean air that should be required in its healthy functioning. In the presence of air pollution, the body therefore would react to this entire condition as it essentially needs clean air. Another important impact of air pollution is directly associated with the environment. Today, air pollution is linked with the huge presence of greenhouse and other toxic gases in the atmosphere from primary and secondary sources of pollution of which the latter seems to be less blamed such as “smaller plants apartment incinerators, and other sources” due to having the mind set on the former as greater contributing factor (Mallette, 2007, p. 14). The gases they produced are considered to be one of the potential reasons for global warming. Global warming is said to be the potential cause of unstable weather condition from various places in the world. This remains to be one of the most important priorities that need to be addressed by the people and from every nation. However, it is important to know that the bottom line of these all started from the emission of any harmful gases and materials directly to the environment. In addition to the potential problem with air pollution in the environment, another significant impact of it concerns about the cost of implementing various strategies in order to alleviate or eradicate it. In some other countries like particularly in Europe, they need to come up with better strategies to minimise air pollution, but not to suppress economic development or growth. This can be too expensive like the possibility of biofuels, which at some point may compete with human food production. Furthermore, strategies to minimise greenhouse gases production could be too costly because the entire nation has to sacrifice substantial economic activities like not relying on cheaper fossil fuels that are known to cause emission of great volume of greenhouse gases and harmful chemicals. Solutions for air pollution There are many viewed significant solutions for air pollution and one of them is minimising green house gas emission. This can only be implemented by addressing those noted contributing agents for these types of gases. For example, not relying on fossil fuels which are known to produce remarkable production of carbon dioxide could be a substantial help in the reduction of potential pollutants in the atmosphere. This is a type of solution that at some point could also create significant impact on the economic point of view. The other probable solution is to minimise usage of vehicles that are known to potentially emit high level of carbon dioxide and other harmful chemicals. Air pollutants like these are important contributing factors to air pollution so they must be controlled (Colls, 2002, p. 34, 47, 61). This can either be implemented by minimising usage of vehicles in short distances or by using alternative-energy sources such as biofuels, solar energy, electricity and many more. In the case of minimising usage of vehicles that are known to produce toxic gases, car manufacturers may potentially design cars in the future which are no longer dependent on fossil fuels. Thus, it is a good consideration to produce cars that are known to rely on fuels or energy source without undesirable production of gases that are harmful for the environment. This may potentially create a significant market investment among car manufacturers, and energy producers. In addition, regarding the case of using alternative energy sources, the entire move should be in line with producing energy sources with economic viability. For instance, it has long been a wide part of the plan to maximise solar energy. In doing this, vehicles for instance would not totally rely on oil. If ever they would rely on oil, biofuels for instance which would ensure less or zero production of harmful gases should what have to prevail in the market. Furthermore, the entire world should work hand in hand in order to create solutions and solve the problems that are associated with air pollution. This means all nations in as much as possible should create a world-wide policy on how to take care for the environment without being too narrow minded on some economic aspects. This means that even if nations are in the midst of competing each other through different economic activities, their point of view should generally focus on future sustainability of the environment. This issue could be greatly political or economic in nature, and it could probably pose remarkable challenges. However, the entire point of this is to actually create substantial opportunity to develop plans and strategies for combating air pollution by achieving the consensus commitment of the entire world for sustainability development and procedures. Conclusion There are many things that need to be considered when issue about air pollution is at hand. This is not just a mere problem, but it includes more specific, detailed and prompt response on the future sustainability of the planet earth and its environment. The global warming issue on the other hand may have remarkable basis that could eliminate some prevailing thoughts about concerns on fabrication. For instance, the explanation about greenhouse gases alone at some point would suffice basic understanding about the real cause of air pollution in a great context. It cannot be denied that this can be potentially created by a nation with improving economy in the onset of modernisation or globalisation in particular. However, regarding this concern, air pollution seems to be a remarkable twin of the birth of modern things and highly sophisticated human needs. There is no problem with this for as long as there are appropriate solutions or response to air pollution. References Chiras, D. D. (2009) Environmental Science. 8th ed.
