Climate change affects animals and plants in varying degrees and varieties of species have become extinct due to the drastic change in climate. Reduction in natural absorption of carbon dioxide and methane in the ecological system is another scientific phenomenon yet to be quantified and incorporated in the climate models. The paucity of rains leads to the scarcity of water as well as affect the absorption of carbon dioxide and methane by the earth in a natural cyclical process which increases the concentration of gas in the atmosphere.

Accelerated global warming due to further increase in temperature is predicted also due to a reduction in absorption of carbon dioxide and methane by the natural sinks. It is also feared that the increase in temperature may release the carbon dioxide and methane stored in theearth. Thawing of permafrost and frozen peat bogs in Canada and Russia damages buildings and roads. Peat is formed from decayed vegetation in bogs, moors or swamps. Drought conditions cause wildfires which ignite the peat, and the smoldering embers from peat spread and cause the ground to collapse.

Climate change has its effect on the global scale. Melting of glaciers for example, in the North Pole, South Pole and mountains disrupts the ecological structure of the whole earth with greater implications. Though developed countries are responsible for a very greater extent for the emissions in the past as well as the present, the whole world suffers the consequences, especially the poor in the underdeveloped countries. As the world is in the formulation of a suitable framework, ethical dimensions of the issues are not analyzed and accepted by all the countries so far in a very meaningful manner in the climate change issue.

Standard economic principles could be applied when there is a consensus with reference to the responsibilities and commitments in the international forum.
