Knowledge on Nature The Colombia River and the environment around it are highly affected by the technological manipulations and the existing cultural practices of the physical environment around the river. The larger environment normally interrelates in terms of interdependence where the rivers depend on the forests as its water catchment areas. The forests, on the other hand, depend on the precipitation cycle from the rivers to get its water for the growth of the plants. This process of nature, therefore, becomes recurrent and naturally occurring. This ecological relation is for mutual benefit inclusive of the animals, as well. The Richard White’s organic machine sees the whole larger environment as a major product of the uniquely existing interplay between nature and human history (Anderson 122). The energy and work existing in the environment has got sharing qualities because of manipulations, which are shared by the river, nature and crosswise, in relation to the cultural divisions in the atmosphere. Both the technology and culture are part of the organic machine. Organic machine influences the healthy environment of the natural resources as a result of the technological pollutions, exploitation of the natural resources and the use of chemical substances in the manipulation of the nature. Technology is the only tool man employs in the extortion and exploitation of what he desired to transform the organic machinery of the river, its meanders, hinterland and the river valley as well as the other naturally occurring parts of the environment. In the exploitation of the naturally historical environment, the gender and race are distinctive and major participants (Conrad 102). The race and gender are always disagreeing between those who are for the healthy existence of nature in their own self-image and those who are against the healthy existence of the natural environment. The Colombia River, as an example of nature, emerges mainly from the organic machinery such as a cyborg. These were cultural artefacts including a blend of both human and nature contributions. For the conservation to take place, there must be individuals against the healthy being of nature while others are in support of the natural and pure form of the environment. This results into conflicts especially where some individuals resolve into the conservation of the environment while the others manipulate it through the technological knowledge and for their own self-interests. The understanding of nature is normally complex. The built environment has really affected the natural environment. The wilderness and the geographical area parts of the environment are no longer in existence especially throughout my hometown. The skyscrapers have taken almost the whole environment in which we live. Technology, therefore, even though has improved the lifestyle of the people, greatly undermines nature. The natural underlying rock materials isotactic and biostatic equilibrium, because of the heavily built environment, is greatly affected. This is some of the major causes of tsunamis, hurricanes and earthquakes. The underground river sources are not in perfect flow because of the heavy earth moving machines which are part of the built environment. The artificially modified technological environment has affected the purity of nature beginning with the quality of the air we breathe to the plants and animals life. My understanding of nature, therefore, is based on the healthy conservation of the ecosystem. The built environment should be considerate of the well-being of the plants, animals as well as the underlying organic matter and rock material. My hometown environment is full of technological manipulations, which greatly undermines nature. For the continuity of the natural environment to be upheld, therefore, there is a need for each individual to take part in the natural environment conservation (Sherman 178). This is what is suggested in the Colombia River organic machine conservation. White believes that the cultural and technological frustrations to those who are out to address the negative consequences of the transformation of the environment should be highly discouraged. This is because nature is more important than any individual’s life and without nature; the people will be subjected to many negative consequences. Knowing nature through labour responds to the big question in quite an organised way for the organic machine book. The social and labour organisation undermines the peaceful coexistence of the natural environment. The organic machinery should not be strained through the labour force. The energy emitted from the sun, for example, should be useable. In the oceanic phase fish traps, hatcheries and the gill nets should be limited and discouraged as a part of the labour system to enhance the natural existence of the aquatic life (White 2). The organic machine in the viewing of the Colombia River as a natural environment is similar and applicable to any environment; especially my hometown environment where the technological impacts experienced such as the one in the River hinterlands are the same problems. The other natural environments as well experience technological exploitations from the geological to flora and fauna natural environments. The four historical references include biomagnifications of the nature, pesticides and herbicides impacts on the nature, tourism and other human activities and the building and construction effects to the nature. Bio magnification in this technological era affects both plants and animals life through the accumulation of the heavy metals such as lead and mercury on plants. This organic material accumulates in the atmosphere as a result of the mining activities and the emission of the pollutant gases by companies. These materials are of a diverse effect especially in the disease transmissions to both the plants and animals, which is the basis in which nature is situated. The organic materials also affect the soil and the microbes as well as the agricultural productions. The pesticides and herbicides, on the other hand, increase the chemical compassion in the atmosphere. The tourism activities especially in the game parks affect the behaviour of the animals in their natural habitats. Lastly human activities such as building and construction, use of heavy earth moving machines not only affect the physically natural environment, but also the health conditions of the human beings and animals as a whole. The four primary documents in these chapters that are important for the answering of the big question include the knowledge of the power of the river, use of the nuclear and hydraulic energy, putting of this river to work and social and labour organisation towards fish extraction processes in the river (White & Erick 4). The river as a naturally occurring environment’s energy should be harnessed to help man in their daily lives. This should be done through the emission of a naturally occurring hydro electrical energy, which is environmental friendly. The power of the in relation to the provision of the aquatic life should not be underestimated. The aquatic life should not be over-exploited to provide room for future generation’s use of these natural resources. Lastly, the energy and labour organisations should considerate to nature to reduce the over-exploitation mechanisms in the environment. In conclusion, the natural environment should be highly regarded in its conservation. The rivers, for example, should not be the disposable point for the industrial wastes, sewage emissions and place for the release of the motor boats engine oils. If conserved, the aquatic life, in their natural habitat, will be in a healthy coexistence with the environment thus improving the quality man’s life as one of the aquatic organism’s secondary consumers. Even though there will always be the frustration of those who are out to address the arising consequences of the transformation, various strict measures should be put in place to deal with those who undermine the healthy existence of the nature. This will reduce the conflicting versions of those who seek to only make the environment and the organic machinery in the resemblance of their personal image.
