All the living beings on this earth have an equal right to live a healthy, happy and a content life. They do their best to survive the threats in the environment, nature and the society. Every species on the earth is endowed with unique abilities and qualities to survive the threat from nature and the predators. The interesting thing is that, a single species plays the role of both, the predator and the prey. For example, snakes are predators when they eat rats and become prey when they are eaten by vultures.
Similarly, mosquitoes are predators when they feed on human blood but become prey when they are eaten by dragonflies. In this way, all the species on the earth have to prey upon another species if they are to survive in this world. In such a scenario, human beings are the most gifted beings amongst all the species as nature has endowed them with superior abilities like intelligence, logic, creativity, emotions, mind and a ‘human’ life. Hence, it is considered their duty to treat living beings of other species with respect and love.
So when they kill animals for meat, laboratory research or entertainment purpose, then they are called barbarians. However, people who criticize animal use for human purpose forget that even the human beings belong to the same natural system that animals belong to, and that system follows the law of ‘survival of the fittest’. . Animals are killed so that human beings can make meat, clothes, accessories and show pieces out of them. Sometimes, animals are killed just for the pleasure of hunting.
All these acts by human beings are unacceptable as these acts are not for the survival of human beings but to fulfill their sensual and adventurous desires. Hence, killing animals for entertainment and sensual pleasure is definitely a barbarous act. However, in an effort to protest against these acts, the animal rights activists are crossing their boundary and protesting even those acts where the animals are being used by humans to find solutions to the life threatening diseases. They forget that in case of survival threat, human beings do have a right to use animals to save their lives.
However, in an attempt to protect the rights of the animals, the animal activists are snatching away the ‘rights’ of the human beings. Survival Of The Fittest Human beings were not born ‘civilized’. Before forming the civilization, they were the part of the animal kingdom. They used to live in the forests, hunt animals and eat them. Hence, like all the animals of different species, human beings are also programmed to survive the threat and defend themselves by killing other animals. Hence, no matter how ‘civilized’ the humans become, the innate trait of ‘survival’ techniques are always going to be present in their genes.
So if they face a threatening situation where they have to kill animals to survive on this earth, then they will do so. Today, human beings are facing a threatening situation through deadly diseases, unhealthy lifestyle and addictions to drugs. Unfortunately, experimenting on animals in the laboratory is the only way to find solutions to these threats. The
