Writing about A Text Verses Writing Own Ideas In literature and any academic writing, there exist two forms of writing, the first from being writing from a given text, this may be summarizing or paraphrasing from the text and relating it to a personal understanding of the same text’s ideas. The other form involves an individual writing his ideas based on personal philosophies and criteria. The two differ depending on their academic content and intended audience. The two styles vary in terms of credibility. While choosing a text to be used as an academic reference, one ought to choose writing that has evidential proof of facts. The complex nature of writing prompts one to incorporate text in his writing skills. The essay will dwell on these two facts and draw a conclusion based on evidence provided by various sources. An essay or a research paper require just more than statements, it requires an intensive search and factual representation. Writing from text widens a reader’s perspective and provides for a third person opinion. The reader has the ability to judge as per his understanding of the original book or sources. The interchange of the text’s ideas simplified by the second writer, effectively provides a structure that arguable enhance understand. The essence of writing from text is how one structures the author’s argument and inscribes it to his own skills and understanding to others (Bazerman, 1994, pg 76). Own writing display a biased nature of facts and is based on personal philosophy and understanding of a given matter. A satisfactory aspect can be seen by the targeted author only if one cites from a given source these can only be experienced on writing from text scenario. Writing from text provides an opportunity for the writer to draw a conclusion based on facts available in the read text. Judgments on issues on the text are influence by two factors, first the writers understanding of a similar concept or the intended audience and their expectations. When asked by the audience to argue against a given concept, one tries his best to ensure they are convinced upon each detail provided (Anson &Robert, 2000). The audience in an academic set up is the lecturers, to convince this audience one requires to search intensively and the best way to do so is writing from text as one only need to read the text and either summarize it or paraphrase it. Writing from scratch requires a personal involvement which one needs to be part of the set situation and posses a clear understanding of the matter before translating it into writing, the sentiments. The required technique by a writer according to Bazerman (1994), are selection, note- taking, deletion and miniaturization. A summary only provides a reader an opportunity to understand the entire text before finally providing the reader an opportunity to gauge own understanding through a summary and recommendation. The originally nature of the text is kept while undertaking these process. The processes are used to enhance the nature at which the main ideas may be maintained while delivering the text to the audience. The originality of the text is important as it reduces the time in which an individual may be subjected to while trying to trace and identify its authenticity of the given fact. A summary is only possible in writing from text. The acceptability of text writing simply depends on the writer’s ability to demonstrate what the text entails. It is important to note the various forms of writing from text paraphrasing is a style adopted by many in sharing information. The mode integrating facts from a given text and does not necessarily indicate the desire to lack originality but instead shows the writers nature of appreciating other works of reputable individuals. The nature in which one appreciates others has been proven as the best way of identifying shared ideas. Paraphrasing a given text links a personal opinion and its source hence answering the audience’s question how and where (Jones& Franess, 2002). The main essence of reading is to enable one to substantiate information that already exists with new facts. Thus the anxiety of the audience is to acquire new ideas in the process; these ideas may only be accepted once the writer indicates the sources. To answer as to which source an individual has used, one chooses to paraphrase a given concept. Writing is wide and appreciating and demonstrating once understanding of concepts and demonstrating similarities one to deploy various styles. Writing is more than presenting blank text but should be done according to set academic frameworks. They should guide one in arranging ideas and presenting them to the audience as quality work. An individual needs to be aware of the surrounding before making any writing decision. Ignorance is the unbecoming of any literate presentation (Jones& Franess, 2002). While writing own ideas one may ignore the facts that similar ideas have been written in the past thus one may be subjected to consequences depending on the audience. An academic setup will charge a person for plagiarism while the author if offended may charge the writer for bridging the copy writes laws provided by the state agencies. While writing from text one is required to cite from the original text as a result avoids the chances of him being subjected to plagiarism claims. An author’s original work is protected by law and hefty fines may follow for those who bridge laws on copy writes. Writing varies in nature in that one may write a novel or a story line which in this case personal experiences and perspective are important in proving a standard writing. These forms of writing require one to give either a fiction or nonfiction aspect of the story. The outcome of the writing is a limited audience. The levels of audience acceptance may depend on the subject matter (Anson &Robert, 2000). Writing from text may be used in more than two aspects. They may be used as a response, in that, the original writer uses them to improve and revise on hi previous work. Writing from text may develop once skills on critical thinking since upon reading a given text one may identify the weakness and strength which may later be used by the writer when submitting a report later on in his academic life. Before an own written piece is accepted academically several processes may be involved and a times rejected due to the failure of it acquiring a given threshold. The audience may be treated on a resulted article or piece of work that has been re- written and revised hence lacking the originality to be used as an academic piece (Bazerman, 1994). Brainstorming on the writer’s perspective requires unique techniques. They include cubing and mapping aspects that require evidence and proofs to make the written piece acceptable across board. Cubing requires comparing topics and ideas with other initially written ideas. The essence is to ensure writers provide facts that are well researched and accepted academically. Personal ideas limit a writer a chance to compare and contrast specific aspects. Comparison provides the reader with a chance to ensure that whichever concept provided by the writer meets expectation. Mapping involves narrowing the text main ideas into small details. Narrowing these ideas provide the reader the chance to grasp the important aspects and make a personal judgment on other issues. Personal writings that involve own ideas may lack the ability to summarize and cluster ideas hence providing the reader with a general aspect and ignoring the little details. Own writing requires professionalism and in many occasions it consumes time as one may need to pass through various process and procedure just to proof its authenticity. A conflict of interest may arise if at all a third part claims ownership of the piece on the other hand writing from text only requires following set rule on citation. A summarized or paraphrased article or any academic piece of writing reduces the time and resources needed to justify the ownership. When given a topic to write from identifying similarities with other previous works may reduce the chances of proving wrong and unproven ideas (Anson &Robert, 2000). In conclusion the two forms of writing provide a different platform for both the reader and the target audience. The need to exist a reader- writer relation should see ideas flow without interference of external factors. Writing from text has proven to be the best way of writing and presenting piece of work to the audience. It creates a scenario where both the reader and a writer links ideas and relate them to the original piece. Writing from scratch which involves writing own ideas may lack the authenticity. Readers’ satisfaction is built on the fact that they are able to answer questions created by the writer through a given concept. With own ideas one may ask the source and prove to ascertain a claim but writing from text provides the much needed evidence since questions are answered by the nature and style the writer cites from the original text.
