My Hero in Life- My Mother English of the May 5, My Hero in Life- My Mother It is a fact that everybody needs a personal hero in life whom one can admire and follow. Moreover, those people happen to be really lucky who get their role models within their family. In that context I am proud to say that my mother is my hero in life. She is somebody whom I have always looked up to for inspiration and motivation. She is somebody whom I have always admired. Whenever, in life I feel discouraged or demotivated, I look up to my mother as a role model and thinking of her gets me motivated and encouraged. She is an example to whom I can look up to and it is she who has taught me and my siblings that nothing is impossible in life if one is dedicated enough and is willing to work really hard to get what one wants in life. It is my mother who taught to us the value of hard work and dedication in life. I am proud to say that my mother instilled in me and my brothers and sisters some important values and ethics that act as a guiding star in our lives, whenever we feel that we are in the need of some direction and motivation. I consider myself indeed very lucky ad privileged to acknowledge that I got a mother of that stature and character. My mother’s name is Amena and she is 49 years old. My grandparents did tell me that right from her childhood she was an exceptional child who was always fond of learning new things. In a social context, my mother also happened to be a really bonding person who liked interacting with people and making new friends. She strongly believed that one should work hard and must do one’s best to serve the community in which one is born. She was very much admired by her friends and relatives who considered her to be an intelligent and loving person and took her to be an admirable personality. My mother was born and raised in Saudi Arabia in Al Taif. As per my grandparents she happened to be a very devoted, obedient and sincere child who was fond of studies and learning. She happened to be a really sweet person who took great pains to serve her parents and siblings. She was deeply admired by everybody in the family right from the time she was a small child. As per my grandmother, my mother had a passion for learning new things and she wanted to be somebody in life. At the same time it was her firm faith that one should not be selfish in one’s pursuits. One should also work hard to give back to the community in which one is born. In other words she happened to be a very social person who believed in contributing to the community and the society into which she was born. As per my mother when she was a child, the world seemed to her a beautiful and wonderful place. According to her it was really great to be born and raised in Al Taif. As her parents happened to be well to do people, there was nothing much to worry about in her childhood days. Whenever she was sad or cried there was always somebody in the family who was there to pick her up. She never liked to sit alone in her childhood days. She always preferred to stay with her family members. Her parents took great care of her during her childhood days. When she was a toddler she was sent to a nice but small school where she spent most of her time playing with other toddlers. Thereby in most of the ways her childhood happened to be free of worries and cares. Her father was a rich man who took care to provide her and her siblings within all the necessary things they wanted in life. He also took care to provide them with good education so that they would do well in life. Her father was from Tashkent who migrated to Saudi Arabia. He was a well endowed and accomplished person who owned a candy factory. He was prosperous in his business and did afford to provide his family with all the things they needed. My grandmother also happened to be an ambitious person who worked in sewing. Right from her childhood, my mother happened to be a very smart person who was well aware of her responsibilities in the family. My mother told me that she used to take great care of her younger sisters when her mother happened to be sick. She also helped her mother in sewing and did her best to serve her family and her parents. Even in early childhood she used to come out as a very responsible person who was conversant with her responsibilities in life. As per my mother, she as a child happened to be a jolly but sincere person who always had it in her mind to be of some service to the family in which she was raised. She harbored feelings of extreme gratitude and respect for her parents and made it a point to help and serve them in all the possible ways she could. As per my aunts, my mother happened to be a really smart person who went out of her way to help and serve her family members. She essentially happened to be a family person who placed great value on family bonds and relationships. She really appreciated her young sisters and harbored feelings of extreme love and affection for them. My mother was engaged when she was 20 years old. Yet, her engagement lasted four years because my father was studying at that time. She got married in 1988. After her marriage she migrated to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. My mother is a proud mother of four daughters and two sons. In 1990-91 my mother happened to be a teacher and these were the days of Gulf War. The War had a great impact on the mindset of my mother. It really shocked her to see the people suffer during the war. Many a times she wanted to reach out to people and be of help to them but she found herself to be helpless and distant. Even today when my mother talks of war she conveys to us that there is nothing like peace and war does always bring much suffering and pain to the people. Essentially speaking my mother is a woman of peace who believes that the humanity should invest its precious resources helping and educating the needy people, rather than making wars and killing each other. She always made it a point to teach us to admire the values of love, peace and friendship and it is because of my mother that I have such a firm faith in human goodness and kindness. My mother always taught to us the value of love and compassion and told us as to how how the acts of kindness towards our fellow human beings go a long way in making this world a very beautiful place. During the Gulf War my mother served as a teacher. She worked with the literacy department and it happened to be her first job. My mother told me that she was a very dedicated teacher who had a firm and unwavering faith in the value of education and literacy. She strongly believed that education could go a long way in empowering people and that it was education that helped people make a difference between the right and the wrong. According to her, education was about character building and not about a capacity for “parading lot of big words (X & Haley 272).” As my mother conveys, she worked very hard in her first job and made it her passion to bring education to her students. She believed in leading by personal example as is said that “Let Stormy heat contend with Stormy Heart (Ferry 1).” She was passionate about her work right from the start. Many a time she went out of her way to help and guide her students because she believed that education not only provided her students with the skills required to get into a good profession, but it also endowed them with a sound and well accomplished personality and character. According to my mother, she believed that education was light and wherever it went, it dispelled the darkness of ignorance. My mother not only placed a high value on education, but she also made it a point to teach to her kids the value of education and how they could use education to be better people and enlightened human beings. As per my grandparents, my mother had an immense passion for education and using academic success to move ahead in life. My mother studied her high school in Al Thagef School in Al Taif. Right from her high school days she was a very studious person who worked really hard and was always prompt and neat with her assignments. She strongly believed that education not only provided her with the academic skills and abilities required to seek a good career, but she also believed that education refined and polished various aspects of her personality and made her a better, humble and accomplished person. I strongly believe that we have inherited our passion for education from our mother. She always made it a point to make us realize as to how lucky we were to be able to afford and have access to good education and always pushed us to value and well utilize the opportunities for education that came our way. My mother accomplished her graduation from King Abdulaziz University. She had a deep drive for doing well in academics and made it a point work hard in all the academic courses she enrolled in. It does need to be mentioned that my other happens to be an extremely ambitious person who believes in prosperity and moving ahead in life. She strongly believed that education was also a portal to material success and business accomplishment and that people who did well in the field of business possessed immense resources to be of value and use to the communities in which they were born and raised. Practically speaking she “yearned for the future (Atwood & Danes 14).” She always aspired to be a business woman and soon joined the world of business as soon as the first opportunity to do so came her way. She worked with and held partnerships in varied reputed companies like Al Hukan, Knights Company in the field of propaganda and media, and specialized in managing, arranging and planning conferences. Eventually she started her own company that is Al Mera that specializes in arranging and organizing conferences. I must mention that my mother happens to be a really resourceful person who adjusted to the world of business in a short time. She is an accomplished professional who is much respected in her area of expertise. In the family side, my father always happened to be a strong supporter of my mother. Right from the start he believed in her passion and talent and made it a point to be a source of help, strength and support to her. My mother is a great believer in work life balance and holds that one should give as much importance to the domestic side of one’s life as to one’s business and profession. I am proud to say that my mother was always there in our lives whenever we needed her and she always happened to be a source of immense strength and support to all of us brothers and sisters. We are simply proud of our mother and do love her a lot. My mother has always taught us to aspire high in life. She always told us to think big and to believe in the power of dreaming big in life. At the same time she taught us to understand and admire the value of human bonds of love and affection and to do our best to give back to the community that has given so much to us. My mother is my hero in life and I feel really lucky to have a mother like her. Works Cited Atwood, Margaret and Claire Danes. The Handmaid’s Tale. New York: Brilliance, 2014. Print. Ferry David.
