Different media have taken a different route with each of them having similarities in the hurdles encountered especially politics. The contents of this book are relevant to the course being undertaken as it offers rich information on the media. In this report, the concepts to discuss includes the evolution of the Chinese media, specifically, the magazines, newspapers, Radio and TVs and Films. Additionally, challenges faced by the foreign investors trying to invest in the same industry will be highlighted. The opinion held concerning the book is that politics and media can hardly together unless there are vested interests.
Overall, it could be said that Latham’s intention is to prove that media ought to be free from interference in its operations especially from politicians. This assertion is informed by close analysis done on the trend of the author for each of the media. For instance, in newspapers, TVs and radios, the author shows how the Chinese government sought to close them down if they failed to communicate that which was appropriate to the government (Latham, 2007).
