Bursary Application Securing post-secondary education is a fundamental need to any especially from a poor background. Post-secondary education remains a luxury of the few financially fortunate in the society. To the financially unfortunate students where I belong, we face a number of obstacles, struggles as well as challenges in securing post-secondary education. Traditionally, government established an OSAP initiative for the needy students. In this bursary application personally, I tend to highlight the obstacles, struggles, challenges and personal problems that I face in pursuit of my post- secondary education. I will also articulate the core reason I think that I am eligible and deserve to receive this bursary award to attain my education goals and objectives. Obstacles Due to discrepancy with my personal income, accessing OSAP assistance has remained a challenge. In addition, lack of compatibility and inconsistency in my income has proved to be an obstacle to be eligible for OSAP initiative. Moreover, having no stable income has been a provocation for in being a beneficiary of the OSAP initiative as other students. Besides the aforementioned obstacles, attending classes without learning materials remains as the most discouraging in my education life. As a major factor for comprehensive learning, it is a challenge to keep up with the pace of teachers and other students when lacking essential learning materials. Lack of adequate learning stationeries has disadvantaged me in effectively doing homework, assignments and preparations of my exams. Struggles Due to lack of adequate support to fund my post-secondary education, I established several income generating activities to help meet my educational and personal needs. For instance, I work every day during my free time to enable me raise enough tuition fees and money for personal needs. Consequently, I have lost concentration and performance ability due to inability to have adequate studies time. My class performance has continually worsened over the years mainly because I always prefer to concentrate on accomplishing employment tasks. Normally, having excellent performance at work has enhanced my job security and continued income. However, excellent employment performance has existed at the expense of my educational brilliance. Obtaining the bursary would enable me to pay my tuition fees and adequately find more time to concentrate on studies. I believe in my potential to perform brilliantly if I pay my school fees in time and have adequate studies time. In addition, I would have enough time to attend classes, concentrate in class and diligently accomplish assignments. Though I have managed to secure employment in the past, part-time jobs have become difficult to find because many employers prefer permanent employees. Lack of constant employment has resulted into financial struggles, as I am not currently able to pay adequately my tuition fees. Sometimes I luckily secure temporarily employment and have to struggle looking for new employers. Searching for new employment besides being a struggle normally consume most of my studies time and consequently affect performance. Moreover, the social stigma of working and studying at the same time has greatly affected my educational performance. Despite the struggles of finding employment, working, and concentrating on studies, I have managed to maintain hard work with hope for financial and educational success in the future. Besides employment struggles, I also face financial constraints in relation to transport charges. I commute daily using public transport to school, an activity that requires constant financial availability. With the constant inflation in public transport prices, I find it difficult to attend classes on a daily basis. Moreover, I sometimes have to forgo imperative classes when lacking enough transport charges. Missing classes has greatly affected my class overall performance. Challenges The world economy is experiencing significant financial meltdown and inflation. As a student, I face challenges the economy poses as any other citizen around the world. Personally, I cannot receive any line of credit because I do not have an eligible full-time employment. Inability to receive line of credit has been the primary challenge to me as a post-secondary education student. I believe that the bursary would greatly assist me in supporting my needs without depending on line credits. Balancing school workload and working part-time has been a challenge. Moving at the same pace with other students while maintaining the part-time job is a challenge that I often find difficult to deal with. I normally take most of my time working than studying. In addition, I normally find it difficult to concentrate on studies mainly due exhaustion from workstation hard tasks. Moreover, due to lack of adequate studies, it becomes difficult to compete effectively with other students. Inadequate study time results mainly because I have to work extra time to sustain myself, which leave me with less time to read as other fellow students. Currently, the prices of learning materials escalate at an alarming rate. With no constant funding and source of income either from the government or personal initiatives, acquiring these materials poses an immense challenge. Consequently, the economic challenges and lack of finances generally contributes to the inability to access fundamental learning materials. Notably, leaving on credit cards at the current economy crisis with high interest rates is tiresome and challenging. As a student, depending on credit card is almost impossible. Credit cards institutions attract several high interests for the borrowed money. These high interests do not exclude me as a student and I have to struggle constantly to pay them. Moreover, the continued trauma of having credits to settle affects me psychologically and I find it difficult to concentrate on studies. Currently, I have engaged myself in huge credits, and with not constant income and inconsistent employment, am unsure if I will continue successfully with my education. Currently, I have huge fee arrears for the semester and am not certain of paying the school owing to the cumulative credits. I believe that if awarded financial support, through the bursary, I will complete this semester. The bursary would also ease my financial trauma, enable me concentrate on school workload, and prepare adequately for exams. Consequently, with minimal financial constraints after paying school fees and arrears, I would competently compete with other students and realize an improved performance. Read More
