Task The sanctum of Harmonious spring This chapter provides a narration of describing the environment within which the grew, with examples of various factors which amazed the author. Inclusion of the chapter holds significant relevance to the overall bibliography of the author as readers can understand the environment from the perception of an individual. The chapter would further assist readers to understand the feelings of the author regarding Chinatown. The entire society appears to be focused on American way of life, author the author still remembers some Chinese social elements when she sees Chinese artefacts on a glass window display. The memories which these items bring to the author are the core aspects of discussion, resulting into the materials contained within this chapter. There is a significant element of harmony between Chinese and American culture portrayed in the chapter. In consideration of modern times, the chapter might be perceived as containing unacceptable elements of the society, like racism. The elements should however be understood for the viewpoint of a Chinese native residing in America. The cultural difference existing between the author’s native and adopted culture, is attributed to these perceptions. It becomes extremely difficult for the author to perceive some of the common elements within the environment as the Native American would do. This chapter presents the reader with an element for understanding the existing discrepancies between the author’s native culture and the adopted one. There is an element of attachment to the culture which is contained within the context of the chapter, and which the author is communicating to her audience. Understanding the value of culture to the author requires reading through and getting the feeling which are associated with the occurrences described within this chapter. While there might be elements in the reading which could be considered as stereotypes, it remains essential to understand that these are the perceptions of the author. The thoughts presented by these ideologies remains essential in comprehension of the inferred meanings of the writings. While many of the elements contain a simple description of the appearance of objects which the author observes, these objects cause the author to visualise of some Chinese aspects of livelihoods which she has learnt to do without (Wong, 86). This is a significant element within the chapter as it can identify the differences which the author experiences in Chinatown compared to china. While there might be many Chinese attributes within the social setting of Chinatown, the author identifies these as being imitations and lacking originality. This presents a clear understanding of some factors which might have resulted in the author appearing to have some negativity regarding Chinatown, when compared to the Chinese aspects in china. The chapter contains narratives which would not only assist the reader to understand the author, but also understand true Chinese values and the values of Chinese people living in Chinatown. There is a significant difference within these two Chinese environments as described within the contents of the chapter. Description of these parameters remains a fundamental attribute which could be essential in aiding the readers to understand the feelings and perceptions of the author. This chapter describes numerous attributes of Chinese culture, which can be considered a core attribute to Chinese people. Understanding the author, who is Chinese, would require comprehensive knowledge of Chinese culture. Such information can be gained from the contents of this chapter. The challenges which the author faces living in a Chinese setting within a foreign country result in a transformation as she lives between two cultural societies. The chapter focuses on the Chinese way of life within the American society of Chinatown. The contents of the narration present an understanding of the way individuals do away with their cultural elements when living in foreign countries(Wong, 88). This affects the individuals and their society as well, since they have a vague memory of their cultural elements. The basic reasons for presenting the materials of this chapter can be understood through perusing the writing. Inclusion of the chapter becomes essential in understanding the social factors which necessitated the writing and the background upon which the writing is based. Living in a foreign country results in individuals demonstrating increased exoticism in their livelihoods. The unfamiliar qualities of the author’s family and immediate society becomes described within the chapter. This is an essential element for the reader to understand the ideologies behind the establishment of the writing. Within the context of the writings, negative elements of the author and lack of clear understanding of some cultural practices could be associated to the foreignness, ingrained into the individuals through residing in a foreign country. These social factors remains the fundamental elements which enhance the artistic attributes of the author. This could be essential to the reader in understanding the inference of the materials presented in the chapter. This remains important because the author requires her readers to understand this writing form the inferred meanings contained within the text. There are numerous expectations which readers anticipate before reading works published by different authors. Readers across the globe would expect content written by eastern writers to contain numerous oriental elements. The reasons which drive people towards reading books sometimes lean towards gaining information and knowledge. Reading through publications written by a Chinese author, the reader must have orientalist expectations. Descriptions and narrations presented in the chapter achieve this expectation through continuously presenting different elements of oriental beliefs and cultural values. These expectations have been presented within the content and description of element ns of Chinatown try to distance the author from these oriental aspects at the personal level. Reading through the texts of this chapter one can get the illusion of expertise in presentation of information in neutral manner seeking to depict the aspect of harmony contained in the title of the chapter. The author combines a description of Chinese and American cultures through the Chinatown society, with finesse. The stereotypical elements which might cause criticism of the writing become overcome within the content; consequently making it both informative and interesting reading. Throughout the content of the text, the author has managed to maintain control of the information presented and self-image. The writing is expertly presented to depict a social element of Chinese livelihood, rather than a personal aspect of the writer’s life. The events described within the content of the chapter result in a fully different elements to the surprise of the reader (Wong, 91). Analysing the writing from the perspective of a reader depicts this chapter to be one of the unique aspects of the entire book.
