Progress Report of Affiliation: Progress Report MEMO Deverl Maserang, Executive Vice President of global supply chainFrom: Moayad Barri, Kansas State University, Department of Industrial Engineering, SeniorDate:Re: Progress Report on minimizing the wait time in the queue at StarbucksThis particular memorandum reports the progress of my research into identifying ways of minimizing the wait time in the queue at Starbucks. I have been able to visit Starbucks and made an observation that there is indeed more wait time for customers in the queues.

My objectives in the research were to come up with alternative ways that would minimize the wait time at Starbucks. Increased wait time in the queues at Starbucks, considering the consequences that the prolonged wait time has on the customers. Work CompletedI have found out through observation that customers spend a lot of time on queues as they wait to be served. Considering that Starbucks severs numerous customers on a daily basis, the queue lines are usually long, making customers spend a lot of time waiting on the queues.

I have learnt that having prolonged wait time on queues at Starbucks does not go well with customers. Starbucks experiences stiff competition from other beverage providers and, therefore, must provide the best of services to its customers as failure to which would provide an advantage to the customers including minimizing the wait time on the queues.I have found out that there are ways through which the wait time could be minimized. These include increasing the number of servers to serve the customers in queues and increasing the numbers of lines for which to customers need to queue.

Additionally, the use of M/M/2 model, which determines the time customers enter Starbucks and the duration of time they wait for service. Work RemainingI still need to find out the impact that the proposed ways would have on minimizing the wait time in queues at Starbucks, and whether it would be of advantage to both the customers and Starbucks.
