The women’s role in The GodFather The women in the movie “The Godfather” reinforced the macho image of the film where men took the center stage as tough and virile while women have to stay in the background. The men were the leaders and members of the mob who _ each other’s out while the women were portrayed as mothers, wives who daughters who must be protected because they are vulnerable and cannot protect themselves. Their roles also were stereotyped as somebody who only stays in the house to take care of the family.

In no way also that the women were involved in the “business” and so as not to make them nervous or frightful of the “business” that the men in their lives are into, they are being lied to feel good. It was as if they cannot handle the tough truth of the movies. They were portrayed as dependents who cannot stand on their own and need a man to survive. For example, Kay Adams (michaels wife) ultimately decided to take Michael Corleone back, much less to marry him. Only that later he did not only disappear but did not even have the courtesy to let her know and just vanished without notice to her.

Also in the character of Connie (the sister) was beaten by his mob husband Carlo but still, he is allowed to do it and remain to be a part of the family. It communicated the message that women were merely objects and beating them is not a grave offence in the Mafia rules.
