Client’s 8 February Much was hidden from Harry because there were major fears that he would use magic against his family. His family members deliberately hid information from him suspecting that he would misuse the magical powers against his family members. One person who especially feared this was Aunt Marge. Uncle Vernon also thought the same and this was why they made every effort to hide as much information from Harry as possible. Did that work in their favor is a debate for another day.
In the latter stages of the novel it is clear to see that Harry abuses his magical powers to get away from the abuse that he gets from his family members and the situation becomes worse. This clearly goes to show that by hiding information the adults in the novel did themselves no favors. It turned out that Harry ultimately used his powers because their abuse became too much to handle for him. Finally, it is fair to say that the adults did not succeed in what they wanted. Harry was abused consistently, not even a single-family member wished him on his birthday, it could have been so much different if vital information had not been hidden from Harry.
That would have also shaped up the novel much differently.
