Teacher "Homo sum, humani nihil a me alienum puto" Humanities is the study of the shared experience of humankind. Such that to appreciate such experience, one has to open himself or her to the multitudes of experience of man as he journey towards the uplit highlands of civilization. Along with this openness is to allow oneself to absorb the multitudes of emotions catalogued in such journey as man traveled. Not all experiences and emotions or even perspective will be agreeable to the student of Humanities and to fully appreciate and understand the shared experience of humanities, he or she should understand and accept that fact.

As a student, one has to overcome that and the biggest stumbling block that prevents us in appreciating humanities and its various catalogue of shred experience is prejudice. Prejudice is the subjective belief that one’s perspective or another perspective is superior or better than the others that everything else should be gauge through it. When the student of humanities succumb to the trap of prejudice, he or she ceases to learn and defeated the very purpose why he or she is studying humanities.

Humanities can only be learned with an open mind and open soul because its diversity of perspective and orientation that humankind experienced throughout time cannot be encapsulated in one standard of correctness of what is right and wrong. Overcoming our prejudices will allow us to look into the eyes of the observed that will engulf us with the experience that made mankind to what he is.
