Part I I. Gilbert, Elizabeth. Eat, Pray, Love. New York: Penguin Group, 2006. Print. Quotation from the book: Ms. Gilbert found herself locked up in the bathroom for the 47th consecutive night. She could not help herself. She said (2006) “ -- I was sobbing. Sobbing so hard, in fact that a great lake of tears and snot was spreading before me on the bathroom tiles.” II. Day, P.K. (2013). Elisabeth Hasselbeck leaving the view? Not so fast, says Walters. Show Tracker. Los Angeles Times. Retrieved from http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/showtracker/la-et-st-elisabeth- hasselbeck-leaving-the-view-20130311,0,154239.

story Quotation from the news article: Ms. Hasselbeck has not been very popular with The View audiences in the past. Day (2013) believes that her outspoken conservative views made her unpopular with the mostly Democratic audience of the show. Part II Classic persuasive appeals are seen on a daily basis in our lives but we do not tend to pay particular attention to it unless our attention is called to it. Take for example the t-shirt that I own. It carries the worded message “No love life, no problem”.

The message on the shirt is a direct appeal to the pathos of a person who understands the travails and burdens that come with having a love life while trying to balance everything else in your life. The t-shirt tries to appeal to their sense of self-preservation, self-interest, sense of identity, and emotions as well.
